New distribution center in Guarulhos will put Shopee ahead of the competition with giant competitors Shein, AliExpress, Mercado Livre and Amazon this Black Friday

E-commerce giant Shopee takes a significant step in its expansion in Brazil with the opening of its second largest distribution center, located in Guarulhos, São Paulo. Shopee, part of Singapore's Sea group, established its presence in Brazil in 2020, marking its first foray outside Asia. Since then, it has experienced substantial growth, now having nine distribution centers in Brazil.

With this opening, Shopee strengthens its presence in the Brazilian market, where it already has more than three million sellers on its platform, responsible for more than 90% of the company's sales in the country.

Rapid Expansion in Brazil: in addition to Guarulhos, the company recently announced two strategic distribution centers in the cities of Recife and Salvador

Although the exact size of the new distribution center has not been disclosed, the decision to install this infrastructure in Guarulhos it is strategic. Guarulhos is part of the metropolitan area of São Paulo, the largest consumer market in the country. This strategic location will allow Shopee speed up the delivery of products to consumers, improving the shopping experience.

This is not Shopee's first expansion move in 2023. The company has already announced the opening of two distribution centers in the cities of Recife e Salvador, marking its entry into the region Northeast of Brazil. These new units, together with the Guarulhos distribution center, represent a solid commitment to the Brazilian market and its growing demand for online shopping.

Asian company prepares for high online shopping season driven by Black Friday

The opening of the new distribution center in Guarulhos arrives at a strategic moment. As online retail grows in Brazil, the Shopee is positioning itself as one of the main platforms for shopping and online sales.

The retail market is preparing for the shopping season, which includes dates such as Singles' Day and Black Friday. Shopee, like other Asian companies, stands out in this scenario, offering promotions attractive. With the addition of Guarulhos to its portfolio of distribution centers, Shopee is preparing to efficiently meet the increased demand during these events.

With nine distribution centers operating in Brazil, Shopee adopts the “cross docking“, which allows efficient collection and delivery, reducing storage. In addition to distribution centers, the company maintains approximately 100 logistics hubs smaller and more than 1.400 collection and delivery points, providing a complete ecosystem for sellers and consumers.
