New Distribution Center in Guarulhos Will Put Shopee Ahead of the Competition with Giant Rivals Shein, AliExpress, Mercado Livre, and Amazon This Black Friday
The e-commerce giant, Shopee, takes a significant step in its expansion in Brazil with the opening of its second-largest distribution center, located in Guarulhos, São Paulo. Shopee, part of Singapore’s Sea Group, established its presence in Brazil in 2020, marking its first foray outside of Asia. Since then, it has experienced substantial growth, now operating nine distribution centers in Brazilian territory.
With this inauguration, Shopee strengthens its presence in the Brazilian market, where it already has more than three million sellers on its platform, responsible for over 90% of the company’s sales in the country.

Although the exact size of the new distribution center has not been disclosed, the decision to establish this infrastructure in Guarulhos is strategic. Guarulhos is part of the São Paulo metropolitan area, the largest consumer market in the country. This strategic location will allow Shopee to expedite product delivery to consumers, enhancing the shopping experience.

This is not Shopee’s first expansion move in 2023. These new units, along with the Guarulhos distribution center, represent a solid commitment to the Brazilian market and its growing demand for online shopping.
Asian Company Prepares for High Online Shopping Season Motivated by Black Friday
The opening of the new distribution center in Guarulhos comes at a strategic moment. As online retail grows in Brazil, Shopee is positioning itself as one of the leading platforms for shopping and online sales.
The retail market is gearing up for the shopping season, which includes dates like Singles’ Day and Black Friday. Shopee, like other Asian companies, stands out in this scenario by offering attractive promotions. With the addition of Guarulhos to its portfolio of distribution centers, Shopee is preparing to efficiently meet the increased demand during these events.
With nine distribution centers operating in Brazilian territory, Shopee adopts the “cross-docking“ model, which allows for efficient collection and delivery while reducing storage. In addition to the distribution centers, the company maintains approximately 100 smaller logistical hubs and over 1,400 collection and delivery points, providing a complete ecosystem for sellers and consumers.
