Stellantis Unveils Leapmotor D19, Seven-Seat Electric SUV with Up to 1,000 km of Range, Modern Design, and Semi-Autonomous Technology; Debuts in 2026.

Stellantis has revealed the first images of the Leapmotor D19, a large electric SUV that promises to raise the standard of technology and efficiency within the segment. A product of the strategic partnership between Stellantis and Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor, the D19 officially debuts on October 16 and is expected to begin production in the first quarter of 2026.

The model will be offered in two configurations: 100% electric and EREV (electric with a gasoline range extender), expanding options for markets that are still transitioning to full electrification. While it is confirmed for China, the SUV has global projections and could reach various countries, but its presence in Brazil remains uncertain due to the high price.

Modern Design and Imposing Presence

The Leapmotor D19 impresses with its robust and sophisticated appearance. The first images reveal a seven-seat SUV aimed at families looking for interior space and comfort.

The front features a continuous LED light strip, narrow integrated headlights, and an aerodynamic front without a conventional grille, reinforcing its electric identity. The sides highlight flush door handles and chrome details around the windows, enhancing the premium look.

At the rear, the highlight is the horizontal LED bar, a solution that has become a trend in modern SUVs, conveying modernity and authority.

Range of Up to 1,000 km in Chinese Cycle

One of the biggest attractions of the D19 is its range. According to initial estimates, the electric version could travel up to 1,000 km in CLTC cycle, an impressive figure that positions the model at the top of the segment in terms of range per charge.

The entry-level version is expected to offer around 500 km of range, well-suited for urban and highway profiles. The EREV option combines a main electric motor with a combustion engine that acts as a generator, ensuring greater range in areas without adequate fast-charging infrastructure.

This combination makes the D19 competitive against rivals like BYD Song L and Tesla Model Y, but with the advantage of providing more interior space and a range-extending option.

Advanced Technology and Semi-Autonomous Driving

The Stellantis SUV arrives with a focus on innovation. One of the most discussed points is the presence of a LiDAR sensor on the roof, which will enable advanced driver assistance features.

The expectation is that the D19 will offer semi-autonomous driving of Level 3 or higher, something typically reserved for premium models from brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Additionally, it is expected to feature adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, emergency braking system, and 360-degree cameras. These features reinforce the D19’s positioning as a technologically advanced and safe electric SUV, designed for discerning consumers.

Interior Still a Mystery, but Expected to Follow Premium Standard

Although the interior has not yet been officially revealed, expectations are that the D19 will feature a full digital dashboard, large screens, high-quality finishes, and plenty of space for the seven occupants.

With larger dimensions than medium SUVs, the model is expected to provide ample comfort for long journeys, as well as a generous trunk. Electric seats, ambient lighting, and full connectivity with smartphones are also among the anticipated features.

Production and Possible Markets

The Leapmotor D19 will be produced in China and is part of Stellantis’s global strategy to expand its presence in the market for accessible and long-range electric vehicles.

Although the company has not yet confirmed which countries the model will be sold in, it is already known that Europe is unlikely to be a priority due to cost issues.

In Brazil, its arrival is also uncertain. Stellantis has a strong local presence with Fiat, Jeep, Citroën, and Peugeot, but the high price of the D19 may limit its viability in the short term. Nonetheless, its eventual import is not ruled out, especially in a scenario of growing demand for premium electric SUVs.

What to Expect from the D19 in the Global Market

With a range of up to 1,000 km, a range-extending option, modern design, and semi-autonomous technology, the D19 arrives to compete in an increasingly crowded segment.

Stellantis is betting on the strength of the Leapmotor brand and global integration to create an SUV that meets different consumer profiles.

The launch marks not only the arrival of another electric vehicle to the market but also an important step in Stellantis’s electrification strategy, which seeks to consolidate its presence in the sector and compete with Chinese and American giants.
