Change In Work Schedule Advances In The Food Retail After Internal Tests And Becomes Effective For Dozens Of Units In The Interior Of São Paulo, With Direct Impact On The Routine Of Thousands Of Employees And Expected Reflections On Consumer Service And In The Organization Of Stores.

The Savegnago Supermarket Chain Confirmed Last Friday (23) That It Will Adopt The 5×2 Work Schedule In All Its Retail Stores Starting In February.

The Decision Comes After The Completion Of A Pilot Project Conducted In Units In The Interior Of São Paulo, Which Received Positive Feedback From The Company.

The Group Reports Having About 13,000 Employees And More Than 60 Stores In Operation In The State, Expanding The Reach Of The Change In A Sector Traditionally Marked By The 6×1 Schedule.

The Reorganization Of The Work Schedule, According To The Company, Seeks To Balance Operational Performance And Employee Well-Being.

The Initiative Expands A Project Started In November 2025 And Signals A Turn In The Management Model Of People In Food Retail.

How The 5×2 Schedule Adopted By Savegnago Works

In The 5×2 Format, The Employee Works Five Days And Has Two Days Off Per Week.

The Proposal Involves Redistributing The Working Hours Within Legal Limits, Maintaining Store Operations And Reducing The Continuous Sequence Of Working Days.

In Supermarket Retail, This Type Of Adjustment Usually Requires Reorganization Of Shifts, Weekend Coverage, And Detailed Planning Of Teams.

According To Information Released By Trade-Related Entities, The Schedule Can Be Structured To Maintain 44 Weekly Hours, With Adjustments Depending On The Role Performed.

The Model Is Associated With Reducing Physical And Mental Fatigue, In Addition To Favoring Greater Balance Between Professional And Personal Life.

Pilot Project Started In Indaiatuba And Was Expanded

Savegnago Announces End Of The 6x1 Schedule And Adopts The 5x2 Workday In All Stores After Tests In SP, Focusing On Quality Of Life And Service.

The Initial Experience With The New Schedule Started At The Indaiatuba Unit In The Interior Of São Paulo In November 2025.

After The First Few Months Of Testing, The Group Decided To Extend The Model To Stores Located In Campinas, Sumaré, And Hortolândia.

In Addition To Traditional Retail, Units Of Paulistão Atacadista In Barretos, Sertãozinho, And Franca Also Began Operating With The 5×2 Schedule.

The Gradual Expansion Allowed The Company To Observe Team Adaptation And The Impact Of The Change On Daily Operations.

Despite The Positive Response, Savegnago Has Not Released Detailed Numbers On Indicators Such As Turnover, Absenteeism, Or Productivity Per Unit.

Company Points Out Reflections On Well-Being And Service

According To The Chain, The First Months Of Adopting The New Format Indicated An Improvement In The Quality Of Life Of Employees.

“The Feedback Is Quite Positive.

The 5×2 Schedule Has Provided Employees With More Time For Family Interaction And For Organizing Their Personal Lives, Which Directly Reflects On Well-Being And The Balance Between Professional And Personal Life,” Said Michel Campos, Human Resources Manager Of The Savegnago Group.

According To The Executive, The Effects Are Also Perceived In The Internal Environment Of The Stores.

“The Main Focus Of The Company Is Excellence In Customer Service, And This Goal Is Directly Benefited When The Employee Is More Rested, Motivated, And Satisfied.

We’ve Observed An Increase In Productivity And A More Positive Attitude From Teams, Which Reflects In A More Human And Efficient Service To Customers,” He Declared.

The Company Claims That The Reorganization Of The Schedule Does Not Compromise The Operation Of The Units.

The Planning Of Schedules Is Part Of The Corporate Stage Of The Project, Considering Movement Peaks And Particularities Of Each Store.

Expansion Reaches Retail And Part Of Wholesale Retail

With The Results Of The Pilot, Savegnago Decided To Expand The 5×2 Schedule To All Retail Units Of The Chain Operating In The Country.

The Plan Also Foresees The Adoption Of The Model In About 50% Of The Stores Of The Paulistão Atacadista Brand.

In The Released Details, The Paulistão Atacadista Unit In Araraquara Is Not Included At This Moment.

Savegnago Stores In The City Are Part Of The Implementation Schedule Starting In February.

The Announcement Was Initially Released By Regional Outlets And Subsequently Repercuted By Other Portals In The Interior Of São Paulo.

Group Size Increases Impact Of Change

Currently, The Savegnago Group Reports Generating More Than 13,000 Direct Jobs.

The Chain Operates 64 Savegnago Supermarkets, With A Concentrated Presence In The Interior Of São Paulo.

In The ABRAS Ranking 2025, The Company Is In The 16th National Position, With A Revenue Of R$ 6.9 Billion In 2024.

The Size Of The Operation Helps To Gauge The Impact Of Adopting The 5×2 On A Large Scale, Both In People Management And In The Dynamics Of Regional Retail.

The Company Presents The Change As Part Of A Modernization Process Of Work Relations In The Supermarket Sector.

At The Same Time, The Company Has Not Publicly Detailed Which Internal Metrics Supported The Decision Or How It Plans To Continuously Measure The Effects On Productivity And Customer Satisfaction.

With The 5×2 Schedule Moving To New Units And Part Of Wholesale Retail Included In The Plan, The Initiative Is Likely To Be Monitored By Competitors, Unions, And Consumers In A Sector Historically Marked By Long Working Hours.
