New Compact SUV From Honda Launches in October in Brazil, with 1.5 Flex Engine, CVT Transmission, and One of the Largest Baggage Compartments in the Category. Model Will Be Produced in Itirapina (SP) and Promises to Compete With Rivals Like Pulse and Kardian.

Honda has set the Brazilian debut of the new WR-V 2026 for October 17, 2025, positioning the SUV as the brand’s entry-level option below the HR-V.

Manufactured in Itirapina (SP), the model arrives with a 1.5 flex engine producing 126 hp coupled to a CVT transmission and promises one of the largest baggage compartments in the segment, with 458 liters of capacity.

The date was confirmed in official publications from the automaker on social media.

Launch and Position in the Brand Lineup

Unlike the old WR-V derived from the Fit, the new generation has its own project, a subcompact SUV size, and launches even before the São Paulo Auto Show.

The strategy is to occupy the space between City and HR-V, strengthening Honda’s presence in the compact SUV segment with a domestic product from the initial phase.

The confirmation of the calendar was made by the company itself, which started the marketing campaign on social media.

Mechanical Set Known in Brazil

The powertrain replicates the formula of the brand’s national models.

The 1.5 flex with direct injection, already used in City hatch and sedan, delivers 126 hp and works exclusively with CVT automatic transmission.

This choice favors consumption and smoothness and aligns with the urban proposal of the new SUV.

Specialized publications indicate that there will be no manual option at launch.

Dimensions and Baggage Compartment of 458 Liters

In external dimensions, the WR-V is 4.31 m long, 1.79 m wide, 1.65 m high, and has a 2.65 m wheelbase.

The highlight is the baggage compartment of 458 liters, a volume that places it among the most capable in the segment and meets an important demand for those prioritizing luggage space for family use.

These figures were anticipated by the manufacturer and reiterated by the automotive press.

Interior in Tune With City and HR-V

Inside, the new WR-V follows the design language of the national Honda models.

The steering wheel, controls, and instrument panel maintain the standard already seen in City and HR-V, while the central panel has its own design and specific air conditioning controls.

The multimedia center in a “floating” style and the digital dashboard appear in promotional images and previews from the press; the final specifications for screen and connectivity will be detailed in the official presentation.

Versions and Equipment: What Is Already Public

So far, Honda has not released the complete catalog of items by version.

Reports from outlets such as Terra and Quatro Rodas indicate an initial offering in EX and EXL, replicating the structure of City and HR-V.

These materials also mention a comprehensive safety package, with multiple airbags and electronic controls, in addition to the possibility of Honda Sensing in the higher configurations.

The official confirmation of versions and equipment will be announced at the launch event.

National Production and Investment Plan

The nationalization of the WR-V is part of the R$ 4.2 billion cycle announced by Honda for Brazil until 2030, prioritizing hybrid-flex technologies and productive expansion in Itirapina.

The plan has been communicated to the federal government and reiterated by the company, which projects an increase in capacity and new developments in the country.

The WR-V is included in this package and, according to Honda, flex electrification is part of this generation’s trajectory, still without a date disclosed for the local model.

Direct Competitors and Price Positioning

By occupying the base of the brand’s SUV portfolio, the WR-V will face Fiat Pulse, Renault Kardian, Volkswagen Tera, and the Toyota Yaris Cross.

The arrival of the Tera has increased competition among B-SUVs manufactured in Brazil and added a direct competitor also aimed at the entry-level segment.

Volkswagen is already promoting the new model on its national website, highlighting the intensification of this competition.

In terms of pricing, estimates from specialized publications place the WR-V between R$ 120,000 and R$ 150,000, positioning it above the City and below the HR-V, a band that will only be confirmed in the commercial announcement.

What Changes in Relation to the Old WR-V

In addition to the platform and design, the proposal evolves in dimensions and load capacity.

The wheelbase of 2.65 m and the volume of 458 liters represent a significant advancement compared to the previous WR-V, aimed at an audience closer to the Fit.

The new generation emerges as a dedicated SUV, with proportions and ergonomics that align with the current category standard, maintaining the focus on the efficiency of the 1.5 flex and the usability of the CVT for daily use.

Expectations for the Debut

With the debut set for October 17, Honda is expected to detail versions, equipment lists, and prices, in addition to the production schedule in Itirapina.

Electrification remains on the brand’s horizon in the country, supported by the investment plan until 2030, and the trend is that the WR-V will benefit from this movement throughout its lifecycle.

Meanwhile, the competition among the national B-SUVs promises to intensify with the arrival of the new Honda at dealerships.

Which features do you consider essential for the WR-V to face Fiat Pulse, Renault Kardian, Volkswagen Tera, and Toyota Yaris Cross with a real advantage in stores?
