The electric motorcycle market has been growing in Brazil due to the constant increase in gasoline and alcohol prices and also due to the prices of electric cars. In addition, CNG has also been a great option for those who do not want to abandon the combustion engine.

Being more economical, practical and faster, electric motorcycles have been a way out for Brazilians who want to escape the high prices of gasoline and electric cars. Manaus owns 64% of this type of fleet and, according to the Detran-AM, in the last two years, it surpassed 18,5% the number of electric motorcycles sold in 2019, when 203,7 thousand were registered. After the rise in gasoline, two-wheelers became a better option, especially for those with the economy as their main route.

According to the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Scooters, Mopeds, Bicycles and Similar Products (Abraciclo), the highest production rate of electric motorcycles was registered in the last 6 years.

Between the months of January and November, 1,1 million motorcycles were produced in the Industrial Pole of Manaus, a growth of more than 25% compared to 2020. Scooters were the models with the most surprising performance in sales, with an average output of 5,5 units. However, for those who do not give up their car and know that it is no longer feasible to use gasoline, vehicular natural gas (CNG) is the best option.

CNG reached, for the first time, 21 thousand cubic meters of daily consumption. A large part of CNG consumers arrived at the product to try to save on gasoline and, therefore, the sale of gas accumulates an increase of 28,59% in the first ten months of 2021.

100 electric motorcycles are no longer produced due to the pandemic

Marcos Fermanian, president of Abraciclo, says that motorcycle production could be even greater, but the production lines still operate with a reduction due to sanitary protocols.

100 units were no longer produced in the first quarter due to the second wave of the pandemic in the state. The market should remain heated due to factors such as the use of electric motorcycles in delivery services, the high price of gasoline and electric cars. Seeking to meet the growing demand in the market, Voltz, a manufacturer of electric scooters and motorcycles, will begin production at the new factory in the Free Trade Zone of Manaus in the first quarter of this year.

Voltz plans highlight new investments in Manaus

According to Voltz's partner, Manoel Fonsêca, what prevents Brazilian consumers from purchasing motorcycles or electric cars is the lack of knowledge about such vehicles. Therefore, there is insecurity when buying.

The Voltz factory, which will receive an investment of R$ 54 million, should generate 200 jobs for the state and will have a production capacity of up to 15 vehicles per month.

The search for electric motorcycles has gained momentum in recent months with the increase in the price of electric cars and gasoline, and these vehicles continue to be one of the best options for those who want to save on mobility, since the cost of fueling is very small.
