Record Flow at the Friendship Bridge Shows Daily Increase of About 3,000 Travelers, Immigration Lines, and Operational Pressure in Foz do Iguaçu at the Beginning of the Year

In just 13 days of the year, over 40,000 Paraguayans entered Brazil through Foz do Iguaçu, in western Paraná, heading to the coast, according to data from the Federal Police, a movement that pressures the border during the holidays. The data is from an article published by G1.

The survey by the Federal Police indicates that, during this period, more than 55,000 Paraguayans passed through Brazilian immigration at the Friendship Bridge, totaling officially recorded entries and exits.

The daily average is about 3,000 people crossing the border into Brazil, a pace that intensifies at the beginning of the year and increases the demand for services.

Intense Flow and Operational Bottlenecks

The increased movement has caused lines and delays in immigration control in Foz do Iguaçu, especially during peak travel times and tourist bus arrivals.

In the first 13 days of the year, more than 40,500 Paraguayans entered the country, according to consolidated records by the Federal Police.

Between Tuesday (13) and Wednesday (14), approximately 7,000 people went through immigration control, concentrating services in a short time frame.

Destination to the Coast and Critical Times

According to the Federal Police, the search for the Brazilian coast explains the increase, especially of tourists heading to beaches in Paraná and other states.

The situation worsens at night when several buses arrive simultaneously at immigration, increasing pressure on available teams and structures.

At times, five to seven vehicles unload at the same time, which increases the lines and prolongs waiting times.

Guidelines and Measures for Streamlining

In light of the congestion, the City Hall of Ciudad del Este issued a statement calling for planning and patience from residents intending to enter Brazil.

The Federal Police emphasizes that the immigration process is quick but recommends pre-filling data online to reduce in-person steps.

With the information registered, the agents only check the documentation, which helps speed up service and reduce lines at immigration.

The elevated flow is typical of the holiday period and tends to concentrate in specific peaks, requiring coordination among authorities and adaptation by travelers to the border conditions.

Are There Beaches in Paraguay?

Paraguay has no sea coast, which helps explain the intense movement of tourists heading to Brazil during the holiday period.

Without access to the sea, many Paraguayans seek Brazilian beaches as a nearby, accessible, and culturally familiar alternative for relaxation.

The movement mainly occurs towards the coast of Paraná and other states in the South and Southeast, taking advantage of the short distance and established tourism infrastructure.

During high season periods, such as the beginning of the year, this flow intensifies and concentrates at a few border points, generating lines, waiting, and pressure on immigration services.

The data from the article is from G1.
