Joint Venture Between AMD, Cisco, and Humain Advances in the Middle East With 100 Megawatts Data Center, Renewable Energy, and Ambitious Goals by 2030 Aiming to Serve Billions of People Across Various Global Regions

According to information from Reuters, Advanced Micro Devices, Cisco Systems, and Saudi startup Humain announced a joint venture to build large data centers in the Middle East, as they see a growing demand for computing infrastructure in the region. The information shows the advancement of this market. Details about the total investment have not yet been disclosed, but a project of this scale typically involves figures that are difficult to imagine.

The first confirmed project will be a 100 megawatts data center in Saudi Arabia. The structure has already been fully contracted by the generative video startup Luma AI, according to Humain’s CEO, Tareq Amin.

The partnership comes after agreements made during the visit of then U.S. President Donald Trump to Riyadh.

This coincides with a rapprochement between Washington and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Humain, funded by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, aims to significantly expand the country’s computing capacity. The company plans to use large areas and low-cost energy to accelerate this expansion.

The First of the Data Centers and Goals by 2030

The initial project will feature AMD’s MI450 AI chips and network infrastructure provided by Cisco. Construction is expected to begin in 2026 and will utilize only renewable energy.

Amin states that the joint venture aims to reach one gigawatt of installed capacity by 2030. The operation seeks to serve a market estimated at 4.5 billion people in regions such as Asia, Europe, India, the Middle East, and Africa.

In the shareholding division, AMD and Cisco will be minority shareholders and will share profits and losses. Humain will be responsible for management. Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, emphasized that the companies will have the joint mission of ensuring success.

Business Strategy and Next Steps

Cisco will also participate with its global sales network. Chuck Robbins, the company’s CEO, stated that he will use 25 years of experience in creating business incentives to drive the offering of the new structure.

Construction has not yet begun. Nevertheless, Humain says it is already receiving inquiries related to future projects, indicating that interest is growing rapidly.

Additionally, the company points out that regional demand creates conditions to accelerate the next phase of expansion.
