HONDA CITY 1.5 16V FLEX CVT

The current generation of the City Sedan, launched in 2021, has grown to 4.54 meters in length and 1.74 m in width, compared to 4.45 m and 1.69 m of its predecessor; however, the trunk space has decreased.

In this one, which is one of the most fuel-efficient sedans, there are 519 liters, yet it remains a reference among medium competitors. In addition to having one of the best space utilizations in the category, the City features a flex engine with 126 hp for all versions.

The Honda City is sold with a starting price of R$ 115,300 for the LX and goes up to R$ 140,500 for the Touring. To justify its place on the list of fuel-efficient sedans, the model achieves 13.1 km/l in the city and 15.2 km/l on the highway.

HYUNDAI HB20S 1.0 12V FLEX MT (5 GEARS)

The Hyundai HB20S sedan appeared in 2013 with the same features as the HB20 hatchback, but with the added benefit of a more generous trunk: 450 compared to 300 liters. After all, it’s 33 cm longer (4.23 meters) compared to the hatch version (3.90 m).

Available in six versions, the simplest Comfort Plus 1.0 MT is equipped with a naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine of up to 80 hp and a five-speed manual transmission, and is sold for R$ 97,960.  In terms of fuel consumption, this is one of the most impressive fuel-efficient sedans on the list, achieving 13.4 km/l in the city and 15.3 km/l on the highway.

FIAT CRONOS 1.0 6V FLEX MT (5 GEARS)

Ranking among the most fuel-efficient sedans, the successor to the Grand Siena, the Fiat Cronos emerged in 2018 as a larger alternative to the Argo hatchback from which it derives. It is built on the same platform that gave rise to the Pulse and Fastback SUVs.

Prices range from R$ 95,990 to R$ 114,990. All come standard with an active system, electronic brake control that assists in starting the vehicle on inclines, a multimedia center with a 7-inch touchscreen, and much more. To be included in the list of fuel-efficient sedans, the model achieves 13.4 km/l in the city and 15.6 km/l on the highway.

CHEVROLET ONIX PLUS 1.0 12V FLEX MT (6 GEARS)

The Chevrolet Onix Plus was introduced in 2019 to replace the Prisma, but the latter was still kept as an entry-level sedan. The company follows the same path as its hatch sibling, the Onix, and the Onix Plus relied on the same strengths that made it successful, such as equipment, mechanical robustness, comfort, and well-utilized interior space.

Starting at R$ 101,590, the competitor to Toyota’s fuel-efficient car comes well-equipped with six airbags, automatic headlight activation through a twilight sensor, an ABS brake system, among others. The direct rival to the Toyota Corolla delivers 12 km/l in the city and 17.4 km/l on the highway.

Finally, but no less important, we have Toyota’s fuel-efficient car. With an investment of R$ 1 billion in the Indaiatuba factory, in September 2018, the brand announced the Toyota Corolla Hybrid as the first flex hybrid car manufactured in Brazil.

The fuel-efficient car from Toyota is equipped with a 1.8 flex engine of up to 101 hp that, together with the 72 hp electric motor, provides a combined power of up to 122 horsepower in partnership with the CVT automatic transmission.

Starting at R$ 187,790, the Toyota Corolla in the Altis Hybrid version already comes with digital automatic air conditioning, smart entry and push start, multimedia center with 9-inch touchscreen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital TFT panel, in addition to, of course, numerous safety features. Being one of the most fuel-efficient sedans, the Toyota Corolla achieves 18.5 km/l in the city and 15.7 km/l on the highway.
