Toyota Hilux Rangga Will Soon Arrive in the Automotive Market. New 7-Seater SUV from Toyota Promises to Redefine the Segment with Its Unique and Distinctive Design. Meet the Hilux Rangga SUV.

Toyota recently announced the launch of the Hilux Rangga SUV, the new Toyota SUV that will hit Asian markets as a more affordable alternative to the famous SW4, known as Fortuner in the region. Based on the Hilux Champ Pickup, the Toyota Hilux Rangga was developed to offer a transportation option for up to seven passengers at a competitive price, with sales expected to begin in 2025 in Indonesia.

How Much Will the New Toyota SUV Cost?

The project transformed the Champ into the Toyota Hilux Rangga through collaboration with the local company New Armada, specializing in building bodies for large vehicles.

The transformation was approved by Toyota’s subsidiary in the country, and the vehicle will be sold at the official brand dealerships. The estimate is that the starting price of the new Toyota SUV will be around 400 million rupees, equivalent to approximately 150 thousand reais.

The design of the Hilux Rangga SUV stands out for its front resembling that of the Champ pickup, but from the B-pillar onwards, the model gains unique characteristics. It features exclusive rear doors, differentiated side windows, and a new set of taillights and bumpers.

The interior of the Toyota Hilux Rangga was designed to comfortably accommodate seven passengers in a 2+3+2 seating configuration.

The rear windows are not the same proportion as the front windows but follow the same aesthetic line, creating a harmonious look. At the back of the new Toyota SUV, the simple vertical taillight assembly catches the eye.

The name Rangga is prominently displayed on the trunk lid. The wheels are made of black alloy to convey a sense of robustness. The seat upholstery is made of eco-leather. The size of the trunk has not yet been disclosed.

Hilux Rangga SUV Delivers Up to 150 Horsepower

The architecture of the new Toyota SUV is based on the IMV platform, similar to that used by the Hilux in Brazil. This structure includes a body mounted on a robust chassis, complemented by a suspension system with leaf springs in the rear and optional 4×4 traction. This design aims to provide safe performance in both urban environments and more challenging terrains.

The Toyota Hilux Rangga is equipped with the renowned 2.4 turbodiesel engine, which has been tuned to deliver 150 horsepower and a torque of 40.8 kgfm. Customers can choose between a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic gearbox. There is also the possibility of an alternative 2.0 gasoline aspirated engine that offers 139 horsepower.

These options are aimed at consumers seeking a reliable vehicle for daily use that must also maintain stable performance for family outings and trips.

Can the Hilux Rangga SUV Arrive in Brazil?

The Hilux Champ, which gave rise to Toyota’s new SUV, already has an established presence in various regions such as Asia and Africa.

Now, the expectation is that there will be an expansion into Latin America in Toyota’s future plans. Industry sources suggest the possibility of producing the Hilux Champ in Argentina, which would facilitate its release in Brazil.

As for the Toyota Hilux Rangga, it seems that it will not be coming here. However, the realization of these plans will depend on economic factors and cost adjustments to make the project viable in the region. Should it decide to produce in Latin America, the brand could increase its offering of utility vehicles at more accessible prices.
