During A Visit To India, JD Vance Proposes Redefinition Of Borders To End Conflict; Ukraine Rejects Idea And Warns About Chinese Presence On The Front.

During a diplomatic visit to India, U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated that the end of the war between Ukraine and Russia may depend on territorial concessions.

In an interview with the press after visiting the Taj Mahal, Vance stated that “there will have to be some territorial exchanges” for a peace deal to be reached. According to him, “it’s time for (the parties) to say ‘yes’ or for the United States to exit this process.”

Explicit Proposal From The White House

According to the vice president, the White House had made a “very explicit proposal” to try to end the conflict. Vance indicated that the new borders between the countries would likely be defined close to the current lines of combat. “I believe that it will be near the current front lines that the new lines of this conflict will finally be drawn,” he stated.

The suggestion, however, raises questions about the future of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022, the Kyiv government has been trying to regain control of occupied areas. Additionally, Ukraine seeks to recover Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014.

Zelensky Rejects Proposal Regarding Crimea

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly rejected any suggestion to cede Crimea or other parts of the territory.

On Tuesday, he stated that these proposals do not represent the official position of Washington. According to him, agreeing to discuss the sovereignty of Crimea would be “entering into the format that Russia desires.”

Zelensky emphasized that he is not willing to negotiate sovereign territories and reiterated that Crimea remains part of Ukraine. “Crimea, our sovereign territories, are not up for discussion,” he stated.

Accusations Against China Increase Tension

On the same day, Zelensky accused China of indirect involvement in military support for Russia. According to him, Chinese citizens would be working in Russian drone factories. He also suggested that Moscow may have stolen drone technology from Beijing.

The statements were made just days after Zelensky first alleged that China was providing weapons and gunpowder to Russia. Beijing denied the accusations.

Despite not presenting evidence of official arms shipments, Zelensky mentioned that the Kremlin may have access to Chinese technology without Beijing’s government knowledge. “We believe that Russia may have stolen these technologies or made some agreement with these citizens outside of agreements with the Chinese leadership,” he declared.

Chinese Presence On The Front Worries Ukraine

Zelensky also revealed that at least 155 Chinese citizens are fighting alongside Russian forces. Two of these fighters have reportedly been captured by Ukrainian troops.

Ukrainian authorities claim that Russia is recruiting Chinese citizens through social media, an allegation that Beijing has denied.

In response, the Ukrainian government summoned the Chinese ambassador in Kyiv, Ma Shengkun, to express its concerns. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented alleged evidence of Chinese involvement in the production of military equipment on Russian soil.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis, the actions of Chinese companies and the presence of Chinese citizens in the war are reasons for “serious concern.” Ukrainian intelligence services have already forwarded this information to the Chinese authorities.
