Update Will Combine Sound Alerts and Allow Voice Notifications, Enhancing Safety and Practicality on the Road
Waze, one of the most used navigation apps in the world, is testing an update that could significantly improve the experience for drivers. The main novelty is the merging of multiple traffic alerts into a single sound notification — something users have requested for years.
The change is expected to be launched in 2025. Additionally, the app is also preparing an artificial intelligence feature that will allow drivers to report incidents just by using their voice without touching their phone, increasing safety while driving.
Waze Update Promises More Complete and Efficient Alerts
Currently, Waze displays visual alerts separately — such as accidents, traffic jams, or objects on the road — but emits only a generic sound for all. The new feature will unify these sound notifications when multiple risks are nearby, providing a clearer view of the situation to the driver.

According to the company, the suggestion originated from a user in the United States through the official “Suggestions Box.” The positive response came shortly after, with a promise that the improvement is in development. There is no official launch date yet, but it is expected to happen in 2025.
Artificial Intelligence Will Also Be Used to Report Incidents
Another feature in testing is “Tell Waze,” a function that uses artificial intelligence for drivers to inform traffic events by voice command. Just tap the microphone on the app and report the situation out loud.
The tool is already available in Portuguese for beta users on Android and iOS. The idea is to avoid distractions while driving, as it will no longer be necessary to handle the phone to report incidents.
This type of technology has been functioning in the United States since October 2024. In Brazil, there is still no confirmed date for the official launch, but Waze continues to gather feedback from testers.
With new features expected for 2025, Waze aims to make navigation safer and more intuitive for drivers. The combination of sound alerts and the ability to send voice commands should speed up responses in risky situations and reduce distractions while driving.
