The main objective of The Decentralization Foundation, which is a non-governmental organization, is to spread education about cryptoassets in a decentralized manner. One of its focuses is to finance research costs related to the sector.
According to the original article from Exame, written by Gabriel Marques, the NGO’s donation to the University of São Paulo took place last year but was only made public this Thursday, February 24, through the Official Gazette of the State of São Paulo. According to the publication, the NGO provided US$ 18,000 to the University of São Paulo for the “development of a technical course with credit on blockchain and other decentralizing technologies to be offered at USP.” Furthermore, the publication also states that an open format of the technical course will also be available remotely for everyone, even for those students who are not enrolled at USP.

In partnership with the Court of Accounts of the State of Ceará, the University of São Paulo had previously conducted a series of discussions on bitcoin and cryptoassets. Last year, a free programming course aimed solely at women, called Girls Programmers, was offered. Although it was not directly related to topics such as cryptoassets and blockchain, the course was also an indicator of the growing interest of the São Paulo institution in the digital sector, which has been rapidly developing.
