Transportadora Associada de Gás (TAG) Announced an Expansion in Its Portfolio with the Acquisition of Three New Annual Contracts to Operate During 2023. Customers, Now with a Longer-Term Partnership, Join the Old List That Includes Names Like Petrobras and Bahiagás.
Starting 2023 on the right foot, TAG (Transportadora Associada de Gás) officially signed three new annual contracts. 3R Petroleum, Cegás, and Refinaria de Mataripe were already part of the company’s portfolio through short-term contracts and now enter into an annual partnership. TAG’s client list includes other companies that are also references in the segment, such as Petrobras, for example.

TAG Starts Offering Different Contract Types to Reach New Clients
As announced by the company, service contracts can be agreed upon both in the form of extraordinary service and through annual, quarterly, and monthly terms.
In total, 35 service contracts for gas transportation on a firm entry and exit basis were agreed upon with 15 shippers at distinct points in Brazil.

It is worth mentioning that TAG already has an extensive portfolio. In addition to Petrobras, previously mentioned, Bahiagás, Equinor, Galp, Origem Energia, PetroReconcavo, Proquigel, and Shell also have binding agreements with the company.
However, the short-term agreement type is recent and was instituted in January 2023. The available products can be contracted either monthly or quarterly.
To provide a simple and complete experience for potential new clients, a calendar has been made available on the Capacity Offer Portal (POC) so that the contracting of the new modalities can be done directly. The option, which will be accessible throughout the year, allows the analysis of different available transporters so that the contract can be made with the one that best meets the needs.
Data collected thus far shows that 6.6 million m³/day of entry capacity and 7.1 million m³/day of exit capacity have been allocated, including both annual contracts and those fitting the short-term modality.
ANP Aims to Abolish Public Calls to Simplify the Contracting Processes for Transporters
Public calls (CP) often act, in many cases, as an obstacle in the contracting process, as pointed out by transporters. In the case of TAG’s clients, for example, the steps are simpler, as the contracts signed are for up to one year, meaning there is no legal need to open a capacity CP.
However, when it comes to longer terms, the process tends to be more time-consuming, possibly extending over months.
Therefore, one of the objectives of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) for 2023 is to simplify this model by abolishing public calls. Thus, the contracting of pipeline capacity will be made easier for transporters.
It is worth remembering that there is also the New Gas Law, and some points cannot diverge from the agreement, such as the construction of new pipelines or the expansion of systems, requiring that CPs in these cases be maintained.
With its new annual contracts for 2023, TAG has much to gain. The short-term modality, acquired by clients, avoids the need for CPs, while the older agreements, including Petrobras, need to think of ways to circumvent bureaucracy.
