18-Year-Old Student from Maringá Conquers 5 Admissions to Medical School in the Same Year, Including 3 Places at UEM, After Up to 14 Hours a Day of Study and Full-Time Trajectory in Public School

At 18 years old, student João Pedro Crevelaro de Oliveira achieved five admissions to medical courses in a single year, including three places at the State University of Maringá. A native of Maringá, he attributes the result to dedication, public education, and educational opportunities.

Admissions to Medical School Include Three Places at UEM

The student from Paraná achieved five admissions to the Medical course at different public universities.

Among them, there are three places at the State University of Maringá, obtained through Aprova Paraná, the Summer Entrance Exam, and the Serial Assessment Program.

In addition to the three places at UEM, João Pedro was also admitted to the State University of the Midwest and the State University of Santa Cruz, located in Bahia. Even with several options, the choice has already been made.

According to him, studying at the university in his own city has always been the main goal. João Pedro stated that he has always regarded the institution as an academic reference and, for that reason, kept his focus on entering UEM from the beginning of his preparation.

Trajectory in Public School Until High School

The young man’s school trajectory took place entirely in the public education system. He started studying at the Municipal School Professor Midufo Vada and then enrolled in the State College Dr. Gastão Vidigal.

He completed High School in 2024 at the State College Alfredo Moisés Maluf. During this period, João Pedro decided to pursue a career in Medicine after researching the course and identifying the possibility of combining science and social work.

He reported that as he learned more about the field, he became increasingly interested in the profession. The decision was made early in High School.

Study Routine Reached 14 Hours Per Day

During his senior year of High School, the student maintained an intense preparation routine. At times, he dedicated up to 14 hours a day to studying.

This routine included regular classes and also a preparatory course, where he studied as a scholarship student.

Time management and persistence were highlighted as important factors in preparing for the entrance exam for Medicine.

João Pedro emphasized that the preparation process for the course requires discipline and planning. According to him, confidence came from the experience gained throughout his education in public school.

Exchange in New Zealand Influenced Decision for Medicine

During his school years, the student also participated in the High Ability Room at the State College Dr. Gastão Vidigal. In this space, he developed projects that expanded his interest in the medical field.

Another significant moment occurred in 2022 when he took part in a three-month exchange program in New Zealand. The experience was part of the Ganhando o Mundo program, an initiative of the State Government.

According to João Pedro, during the trip he had contact with different areas of research in medical sciences. Teachers in the country also encouraged him to pursue a career in Medicine.

Academic Plans and Interest in Scientific Research

With his admission confirmed at UEM, the student intends to participate in academic activities related to medical training. Among his plans are academic leagues, research projects, and scientific initiation programs.

He stated that he intends to start classes first to understand how university life will be. From this adaptation, he plans to evaluate which activities will be possible even in the first year.

João Pedro also shows interest in topics related to public health. Among the projects he has already developed, he mentions studies on the spread of false information in the health field.

According to the student, understanding how incorrect information circulates can help reduce negative impacts on the population. He states that he intends to study and work in the area to contribute positively to society.
