One Thousand Electric Vehicles Including Vans and Trucks Will Be Produced in Partnership Between Ambev and FNM

Ambev has closed yet another partnership for the purchase of one thousand electric vehicles, this time with the National Mobility Factory (FNM), a startup created last year. Production will take place in an exclusive area of Agrale’s factory in Caxias do Sul (RS), with which the company has a technical cooperation agreement.

1,600 Electric Vehicles

Ambev and FNM did not disclose the investment amount. Ambev already had a purchase intention agreement for 1,600 electric vehicles from Volkswagen Truck and Bus. Production of the first 100 units begins in the second half of the year at the Resende (RJ) factory.

The electric vehicles will be used by transport companies that provide distribution services for the brewery. The pilot vehicle will make beverage delivery routes in Rio de Janeiro, with a range of up to 100 kilometers per day. They add to the 1,600 electric units being produced by Volkswagen Trucks and Buses in Resende (RJ). Of these, 100 are expected to start operating this year.

Ambev and FNM Will Have High-Performance Trucks with Cutting-Edge Technology

The FNM trucks are equipped with a collision avoidance system with artificial intelligence and integrated cameras. Charging will take place at charging points in Ambev’s distribution centers, which use solar energy.

Each FNM electric truck will eliminate 126,000 kilograms of CO2 per year. Ambev received two units for testing, and series production begins in February or March. The vehicles have a programmed range of 100 km but can reach up to 500 km. Recharging will take up to four hours using chargers at Ambev’s distribution centers, which also operate with solar energy.

The trucks will be connected to Ambev’s IT systems, which will provide real-time data on routes, performance, traffic information, and paths. They are equipped with a collision avoidance system.

Ricardo Machado, president of FNM, explains that the vehicles will be produced according to customer needs in a business model based on pre-sale contracts, open spreadsheets, and advance payment. Among the suppliers are the Norwegian company Danfoss Editron (motors) and the American company Octillion (batteries). The Brazilian company Randon will manufacture the cargo boxes.
