Flee The Increase Of Aneel: Discover How To Save Up To 65% On Your Electricity Bill! Learn All About The Social Tariff Program And Reduce Your Energy Expenses.

At the end of June, the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) announced the activation of the yellow tariff flag for consumers of the National Interconnected System (SIN). This means an increase in the electricity bill of R$1.88 for every 100 kilowatt-hours consumed. With this change, many families need to find ways to save on their electricity bills so as not to strain their household budgets.

Electricity Bill: How To Save With The Social Tariff Program

One of the most effective ways to save on electricity bills is through the Social Tariff Program for Electric Energy. This program is aimed at low-income families and provides a considerable reduction in the monthly energy bill.

In Pará, for example, around 1 million families are already benefiting from the program, according to the Customer Relationship Analyst at Equatorial Pará, Alexandro Freitas. However, there are still 690,000 families that are entitled to this benefit but do not yet take advantage of it.

To be part of the program, families must meet certain requirements. The main one is registration in the Unique Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) and have a family income of up to half a minimum wage per person. It is important to note that the electricity bill does not need to be in the name of the holder of the Social Identification Number (NIS), which eases the registration process.

Reduction Of The Energy Bill: Registration Update Is Essential

To ensure the continuity of the discount on the electricity bill, it is essential that beneficiaries keep their registration updated. The family head must gather the documentation of all family members and take it to the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS). In the state of Pará, for example, 80,000 families need to update their data to avoid losing the benefit.

Alexandro Freitas highlights the importance of this update and emphasizes that, for indigenous and quilombola communities, the reduction can reach up to 100% on the first 50 kilowatt-hours consumed. This benefit is crucial to ensure that these communities can access electricity without compromising family budgets.

Save On Your Electricity Bill: Criteria For Participating In The Federal Government Program

To register for the Social Tariff Program, families need to fit into specific criteria. Besides being registered in the CadÚnico and having a family income of up to half a minimum wage per person, other conditions include:

  • Receiving Continuous Cash Benefit (BPC) as a person with a disability or elderly person over 65;
  • Having a family member who continuously uses electric equipment for health reasons.

In cases of families with members who need electric equipment continuously, the family income can be up to three minimum wages. It is also necessary to present a medical report detailing the patient’s clinical information, the required equipment, and the treatment period.

Tips To Reduce The Energy Bill In Daily Life

Even with the Social Tariff benefit, adopting energy-saving practices in daily life can help further reduce the electricity bill. Some tips include:

  • Unplug electronic devices when not in use;
  • Use LED bulbs, which are more economical and durable;
  • Make the most of natural light by opening windows and curtains during the day;
  • Avoid excessive use of air conditioning units and opt for fans on less hot days;
  • Keep electrical appliances maintained to ensure they are functioning efficiently.

These practices, combined with the benefits of the Social Tariff Program, can make a significant difference in the energy bill at the end of the month.

Aneel And The Impact Of Tariff Flags

Aneel’s decision to activate the yellow tariff flag directly impacts consumers’ wallets. The tariff flags are a system that signals the cost of electric power generation, according to production conditions. When the yellow flag is in effect, it means that the conditions for energy generation are less favorable, resulting in higher costs for consumers.

For many families, this increase can be challenging. Therefore, programs like the Social Tariff are so important, as they offer a way to alleviate this impact, allowing low-income families to save on their electricity bills and maintain access to electric power more sustainably.

Saving on electricity bills is a growing concern for many families, especially with rising energy tariffs. The Social Tariff Program for Electric Energy, promoted by Aneel, is a valuable tool to help low-income families reduce their monthly energy costs.

By keeping registrations updated and adopting energy-saving practices, it is possible to face the challenges posed by tariff flags and ensure a more affordable electricity bill for everyone.
