Chu Chi Hang, a young student from Macau, China, has been officially recognized by The World Records Federation as the youngest person on the planet to achieve a perfect score in Mathematics on the Edexcel International Advanced Level (IAL) exam.
He achieved this remarkable feat at the age of 12 years, 7 months, and 24 days, also winning the medal “Unique Skills of Wonderful People, No. 1 in The World.”
The accomplishment has turned the boy into a new global reference in the academic field, attracting the attention of educators and institutions.
His passion for mathematics began at a very early age, and success in the international exam reinforced his reputation as a gifted talent.
A Record of Mathematical Achievements
Chu did not reach this result by chance. He had already won more than 15 international and regional competitions, including the Gold Prize at the World Mathematics Invitational, the title of Champion at the Macau Junior Mathematics Olympiad, and the First Prize at the Wasu International Mathematics Competition.
Still in elementary school, the student nearly achieved a perfect score on the Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics exam, demonstrating impressive consistency throughout his academic journey.
Versatility Beyond Numbers
Although recognized for his logical reasoning and talent with numbers, Chu also excels in other areas.
He obtained a Level 2 Certificate in Junior Software Programming (Language C), granted by The Chinese Institute of Electronics.
In his leisure time, he dedicates himself to the piano and badminton, activities that, according to him, help balance mind and body.
This combination of disciplines, sports, and arts shows a young man who values both intellectual excellence and personal well-being.
Gratitude and Recognition to Mentors
Commenting on his achievement, Chu expressed deep gratitude to his family and teachers. “I am very grateful to my parents, who have always supported me unconditionally,” he stated. He also made a point of thanking the educators who have accompanied him since early on.
His main mentor, Dr. Yip Matthew Siu Ting — known as Prof. Mathewmatician — played a central role in preparing him for the exam. An educator from Hong Kong, he has been recognized by The World Records Federation for directly assisting the student in this process.
Matthew has been following Chu since second grade and expressed that he is “extremely honored” by the young man’s success.
According to him, besides exceptional intelligence, Chu possesses great emotional maturity and patience to deal with complex challenges.
Focus and Humility for The Future
Even in the face of fame, Chu maintains a humble and disciplined profile. “I feel excited, but that won’t make me complacent. I want to keep studying and achieve even greater accomplishments,” said the record holder.
His goal now is to enter a prestigious global university, deepening his studies in areas related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
A Global Example of Dedication and Excellence
Experts point out that many young prodigies have already achieved high scores in public exams, but Chu’s case stands out for the perfect score and his young age.
Thus, the feat from Macau becomes a symbol of the pursuit of excellence and the importance of family and educational support in the development of extraordinary talents.
