‘Titan’ Will Be the Name of the Electric Vehicle Model That Apple Is Designing. Major Companies Like Toyota and LG Will Be Part of the Development of This Project

Apple announces that it is committed to a new project, along with other major companies like LG, Toyota, and SK Group. After closing a partnership with Toyota, LG, and SK Group, Apple revealed that it will produce an innovative electric vehicle, unlike anything seen before in the market. The Apple project has been named ‘Titan’. It is still unclear what the degree of Toyota’s involvement will be in building the electric vehicle, but it is possible that the Japanese manufacturer will play a significant role in the development of the technological structure, as it has extensive experience in the field.

‘Titan’, Apple’s Project, Has Been Underway for Years

It is not new to hear about Apple’s project to develop an innovative electric car. Since 2014, the project has been made public, when its initial partner was Ford.

In 2015, after obtaining very few results from the partnership with Ford, Apple sought executives and engineers from Tesla Motors to try to advance the project, but there was also no success.

Revising the Plans

After undergoing several changes, such as executive turnover, Apple decided it was time to change its plans. In its initial programming, there was also a project to develop an operational vehicle intended for companies and universities.

However, already in 2018, Apple decided that the electric vehicle model would also be launched to the general public, to achieve greater reach and, perhaps, other partnerships.

At the end of 2020, Apple made itself available to talk to Hyundai, which seemed quite interested in forming a partnership. However, the Korean manufacturer reassessed its own company’s plans and did not continue with the project, ending the partnership with Apple.

Partnership with Toyota, LG, and SK Group

After several months without discussing the ‘Titan’ project, Apple issued a statement in February of this year, and Bloomberg published that the company was looking for suppliers and engineers to produce an electric vehicle without third-party assistance.

It didn’t take long for LG and SK Group to reach out and offer partnership to Apple. Just as it is uncertain about Toyota’s fundamental role in the project, it is also unknown what role LG and SK Group will play, since both conglomerates have the capacity and efficiency to work independently.

It is estimated that LG, SK Group, and Toyota will take on a significant part of the project, to develop ‘Titan’ according to the model dreamed of by Apple since its plans were made years ago. Now, we must wait for the next chapters of the partnership with Toyota, LG, and SK Group, and hope that Apple’s electric vehicle finally becomes a reality.
