LG, an electronics company, has approval to invest in the Manaus Free Trade Zone, in Amazonas. It is expected that 150 jobs will be created.

Carlos da Costa, special minister of Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness, announced that he will approve the expansion of LG's monitor and notebook production line in the Free Trade Zone of Manaus, Amazonas. The decision was taken after the electronics multinational increased the number of jobs created in the Amazonian capital from 68 to 150 and announced an investment of approximately R$ 3,8 billion.

Contributions to be made by LG in the state of Amazonas

Yesterday (11/05), a live was made with the presence of the president of Fieam (Federation of Industries of the State of Amazonas) and executives of LG Electronics. Carlos da Costa said during the meeting that, in addition to increasing opportunities, the approval of the new proposal considered that the multinational is the fourth largest employer in Amazonas, with 2.200 jobs generated in the state.

The minister also said that the commitment to double the number of jobs originally foreseen (there were 68, with a forecast of reaching 150 jobs) is a great victory for the Manaus Free Trade Zone, in the state of Amazonas, and for LG.

The multinational's project had been removed from the agenda of the Suframa Board of Directors meeting

On the last April 23, Carlos Costa had removed from the agenda of the meeting of the Board of Directors of Suframa (CAS) the LG project. The multinational's plan, which had received a favorable opinion from the other CAS members, had the highest investment forecast on the meeting's agenda, with around R$ 325 million.

However, at the time, Costa said that the withdrawal of the LG project would not mean a rejection of the project, highlighting the effort to better understand the circumstances that caused such a low number of jobs to be generated by such a high volume of investments to be made. by LG, in the state of Amazonas.

LG Electronics will transfer to the capital of Amazonas

The transfer of LG Electronics to Manaus, in Amazonas, took place during the workers' strike in Taubaté, in the state of São Paulo. According to the announcement, on April 19, department officials who were already on strike approved the proposed agreement defined on April 16 through a hearing held by TRT-15.

Also according to the report, LG's prediction is that it will close the cell phone factory by May 31. For LG's monitor and notebook factories, according to the plan released by the union, the workers' expectation is to stop production in Taubaté until August 31 of this year.
