The Apprentice BB Program Offers Professional Training, Labor Benefits, and Opportunities in Units of Banco do Brasil, Focused on Low-Income Youth Seeking Their First Experience in the Formal Market.

Banco do Brasil is keeping open the Apprentice BB Program (PABB) for teenagers and young people aged 14 to 18 years old, focusing on low-income students seeking their first job opportunity.

The hiring model offers a salary of 1 national minimum wage (currently R$ 1,518), plus food assistance of R$ 200, transportation voucher, health plan, and other guaranteed labor rights.

Over the years, the bank’s apprenticeship program has served more than 50,000 adolescents in situations of social vulnerability, distributed across thousands of units throughout the country.

Many of these young people, after the learning cycle, have pursued careers within the financial institution itself, reinforcing the professional training aspect associated with the PABB.

Social Inclusion and Program Operation

Created in alignment with the Learning Law (Law No. 10.097/2000) and the bank’s internal social responsibility policies, the Apprentice BB Program combines practical training at Banco do Brasil facilities with theoretical courses offered by partner non-profit entities.

The main objective is to develop personal, social, and professional skills that facilitate young people’s access to and retention in the job market.

While providing fixed income and benefits, the program prioritizes educational support and school performance.

The proposal is for the young person to manage to study and work in a balanced way, without abandoning school and maintaining satisfactory attendance and performance.

Requirements to Participate in the Apprentice BB Program

The vacancies for the Apprentice BB Program are aimed at young people in situations of economic and social vulnerability.

To participate, one must simultaneously meet the main prerequisites established by the bank and the partner entities.

Teenagers aged between 14 and 18 years old, enrolled in the education system, and with a family income of up to half a national minimum wage per person can apply.

The per capita income requirement aims to prioritize low-income families and expand the program’s social reach.

Regarding education, the bank establishes that the candidate must be attending at least the 7th grade or the 8th year of elementary school, according to the nine-year system established by Law 11.274/2006.

Young people who have already advanced to high school may also participate, as long as they meet the other criteria of age, income, and active school enrollment.

Work Schedule, Routine, and Professional Training

The apprentice’s routine has been structured to be compatible with school life.

In general, the schedule is 4 hours daily, at times that do not conflict with classes.

The model combines days of practical activity at Banco do Brasil units with moments of theoretical training at partner entities, which offer content related to citizenship, ethics, customer service, administration, and banking services.

In practice, the young person begins to experience the corporate environment of a large financial institution, always under supervision and with activities adjusted to their age group.

Tasks usually involve administrative support, document organization, guided customer service, and assistance with internal routines, without access to more complex operations.

In addition to professional experience, the apprentice receives guidance on workplace behavior, interview posture, career planning, and other skills that help transition to future jobs.

Benefits and Rights Guaranteed to the Apprentice BB

The benefits package of the Apprentice BB Program follows the national standard for apprenticeship contracts and includes additional advantages.

The young person receives remuneration equivalent to 1 national minimum wage, currently R$ 1,518, plus food assistance of R$ 200, transportation voucher, and health plan.

As it is a linkage governed by specific labor legislation for apprenticeships, the participant is also entitled to 13th salary, paid vacation, and the collection of corresponding social security charges for the contract period.

The combination of income, social protection, and practical experience makes the program one of the most sought-after entry points among young people interested in careers in the banking sector.

Selection by Credentialed Partner Entities

A central point of the Apprentice BB Program is that the recruitment process is not conducted directly by Banco do Brasil.

The selection and hiring of apprentices occur through Credentialed Non-Profit Entities (ESFL), responsible for identifying young people, conducting screening stages, and monitoring development throughout the contract.

These entities act as a bridge between the bank and the community.

They verify if the candidate meets the income, age, and education criteria, organize groups for theoretical training, and refer approved young people to participating Banco do Brasil units.

In many cases, these organizations also provide psychosocial and pedagogical support, contributing to the apprentice’s retention in school and work.

The employment relationship is generally established with the non-profit entity itself.

Banco do Brasil, in turn, receives the apprentice for the practical training phase in one of its thousands of branches across the country.

Social Impact and Future Opportunities

With more than 50,000 trained apprentices, the Apprentice BB Program has established itself as an initiative of significant social impact, especially in regions where the availability of formal employment for adolescents is limited.

Contact with technology, administrative routines, and customer service helps young people build a consistent resume early in their professional lives.

Many participants pursue careers in financial institutions, attend higher education in fields such as administration, accounting, law, or technology, and report that their experience at Banco do Brasil was crucial in their career choice.

In parallel, the program helps reduce school dropout rates, as remaining in school is a condition for maintaining the apprenticeship contract.

How to Apply to the Apprentice BB Program

Since enrollment occurs exclusively through credentialed non-profit entities associated with Banco do Brasil, the first step for interested individuals is to check for partner organizations in the municipality or region where they live.
