SUVs e carros com peças caras têm manutenção altíssima e viram prejuízo certo para quem não calcula o custo real de possuir um veículo assim.

SUVs And Cars With Absolutely Expensive Parts Are Driving Owners To The Limit: Simple Repairs Are Turning Into Five-Digit Losses, With Maintenance Costs That Rival The Purchase Price Of The Vehicles Themselves

Owning a luxury car or an imposing SUV is no longer just a matter of status; it has become a test of financial endurance. This is because many SUVs and cars with absolutely expensive parts have maintenance costs that border on the absurd, turning any minor bump or technical failure into bills exceeding R$ 10,000.

According to a report from UOL, even seemingly simple items like backup cameras, windshields, or batteries require specialized technology and imported parts, which multiplies the price of any repair. In some cases, repairs can only be performed at authorized workshops, with specific equipment and trained technicians, further increasing the final bill.

When The Repair Requires Dismantling The Entire Car

Among the most emblematic examples is the Land Rover Discovery 4, which requires the complete separation of the body from the chassis to replace the timing belt.

This process, known as “unbodied,” takes hours of technical work and reprogramming of all electronic control units.

The result is an operation that can cost tens of thousands of reais and deters even experienced workshops.

The more complex the car, the more expensive the maintenance. High-performance SUVs feature powerful engines in tight compartments, requiring total dismantling for repairs that would be simple replacements in other models.

The logistical cost and labor time cause the final price to skyrocket.

Small Parts, Big Losses

Even newer vehicles with intermediate prices have made it onto the list of SUVs and cars with absolutely expensive parts.

The Fiat Fastback, for example, has the backup camera as a target for theft, and the loss goes far beyond the theft itself.

The original part costs around R$ 2,000, and if the theft damages the fiber optic cable that transmits images to the multimedia center, the repair can exceed R$ 5,000.

The electronic sophistication that should provide comfort is becoming a nightmare for the wallet.

Assistance systems and sensors require high-precision components, and any replacement must be performed with digital calibration, further increasing costs.

Intelligent Windshields That Cost As Much As A Computer

Windshields equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are another critical point.

A simple crack caused by a stone or impact can cost over R$ 3,000 just for the original part.

And the problem doesn’t end there: the new glass needs to be calibrated with the system’s cameras, a procedure that requires specific tools and can add another R$ 500 to the bill.

These components that improve safety also increase the consequences of any damage.

The owner of a modern car pays not just for the glass, but for the technological set that comes with it.

Electric Car Batteries: The New Ghost For Those Seeking Savings

In electric vehicles, the drama is even greater.

The high-voltage batteries are positioned at the base of the car, exposed to impacts from bumps and stones.

Despite reinforced protection, there are reports of damage caused by minor accidents, and the replacement cost exceeds R$ 200,000 in some models.

When insurance doesn’t cover it, the loss is total.

The cost of the battery replacement is higher than that of the used car itself, making the repair an unfeasible loss.

The advancement of electric vehicles has brought efficiency and silence, but also unprecedented repair costs.

The Phenomenon Of “Wealthy Leftovers”

There is also a group of vintage luxury cars, popularly known as “wealthy leftovers”.

Models from brands like Porsche, BMW, and Land Rover, which cost small fortunes when new, are now found on the used market at prices equivalent to those of medium SUVs.

But cheap can be expensive: the parts still cost the same as they did at the time of launch, and maintenance relies on specialized workshops.

It is common for owners of these models to delay maintenance, leading to serious failures in engines and transmissions.

In many cases, the repair is so expensive that the car ends up being dismantled for parts resale.

Double Care When Choosing A Used Luxury Car

Experts warn that, before buying a premium vehicle, consumers should evaluate not only the acquisition price but the long-term maintenance costs.

It’s essential to check the availability of parts, the service network, and the maintenance history.

What may seem like a good deal on paper can turn into a financial pit.

Luxury cars or sophisticated SUVs require planning and an emergency reserve, not just automotive passion.

Do you think it’s worth having a SUV or car with absolutely expensive parts for comfort and status, even with the risk of such high losses in maintenance?
