When questioned about the possible replacement in charge of Petrobras, President Bolsonaro responded to TV Ponta Nega, shown this Wednesday that “There is such a possibility”. “Everyone in the government – ministers, secretaries, directors of companies, presidents of state-owned companies – can be replaced if they are not doing their jobs to the satisfaction. So it doesn't mean that it will be changed or that it won't be changed. I just cannot change the vice president of the Republic, the rest can all be changed, obviously for reasons of productivity, reason for failure or omission in the respective service”, added the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro.
According to Examination, President Bolsonaro returned to criticism of Petrobras due to the increase in fuel prices, in which Petrobras readjusted gasoline by 18,8% and diesel by 24,9%. According to Bolsonaro, he is waiting for Petrobras to return to review the prices that were absurdly increased in the last week.
Rising fuel prices
Soaring oil prices reflect on Brazilians' pockets. Petrobras announced this Thursday (10/03) new readjustments in the prices of gasoline, diesel and cooking gas. New increase happens after almost 2 months of frozen values in the refineries of the state-owned company. According to Abicon, even with the new readjustment, gasoline and diesel prices continue to be lagged in relation to the prices practiced in the international market.
The average price of gasoline for distributors will rise from R$ 3,25 to R$ 3,86 per liter, that is, an increase of 18,8%. In the case of diesel, the average price practiced per liter will be readjusted from R$ 3,61 to R$ 4,51, that is, an increase that reaches 24,9%.
In the case of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), better known as cooking gas, we will have a readjustment of 16,1%, where the price practiced per kg will go from R$ 3,86 to R$ 4,48, equivalent to R$ $58,21 for 13 kg.
Bolsonaro fires criticism at Petrobras and government authorizes the Ministry of Mines and Energy to alert service stations that do not follow the reduction in fuel prices approved by Congress
The president continues with acidic comments on Petrobras' announcement of an increase in fuel prices. The state-owned company claims that, contrary to what the government says, the readjustments were necessary. Last Saturday, March 12th, the Government stated that it will ask the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, to warn the fuel stations that remain with the Price published by Petrobras. The stations must reduce the amounts charged at pumps after the change in taxes voted and approved by Congress. To learn more, check out this article in full by clicking here.
