The Conclusion of the Agreement Was Welcomed by the National Confederation of Industry and Made International Trade More Practical. The United States Is Currently One of Brazil’s Largest Trade Partners
These days, with the ease of international trade, companies certified as Authorized Economic Operators – AEO in Brazil – will be able to export products more quickly and with less bureaucracy to the United States. The Mutual Recognition Agreement – MRA was signed on September 16 in the capital of the United States, Washington, after seven years of negotiations between the Federal Revenue and U.S. Customs.
Imports and exports began after the signing of a joint work plan in 2015. The conclusion of this partnership is advocated by the National Union of Industry and Transport and is one of the central agendas of the international trade agenda.
The United States is Brazil’s second-largest trade partner, accounting for 14% of the country’s exports, representing an amount of over US$ 70 billion last year, in 2021. Through these numbers, Brazil exported approximately US$ 30 billion to the North American market and imported around US$ 40 billion.

According to the CEO of Logcomex, a Major Player in Foreign Trade, the Signed Agreement Was Highly Anticipated by the Market
Helmuth Hofstatter, CEO of Logcomex, emphasizes that the union between the two countries is important for achieving good compatibility and speed in exports and imports in Brazilian trade. “It was an agreement that the market was extremely eager for. The measure brings more competitiveness to the industry by reducing the time and costs of Brazilian exports to the U.S.,” he explains.
According to the Ministry of Economy, companies in the AEO program account for 17% of exports to the United States, based on the last 3 years’ analysis. The minister’s position is that the signing of the agreement will lead to growth in demand for AEO certification among Brazilian companies.
“In general, this movement will bring a series of benefits for logistical operations between Brazil and the U.S., enabling greater trade flow between the two countries,” adds Logcomex CEO Helmuth Hofstatter.
