Brazilian vaccine factory in Butantan receives investment of R$ 1 million from Ypê

Ypê, which is one of the largest manufacturers in the cleaning sector, is teaming up with other companies to accelerate the construction of the factory for the production of vaccines against the new corona virus, at the Butantan institute.

It was announced this Wednesday (10), the donation of R$ 1 million by Ypê, for the construction of a new vaccine factory, in the fight against the new corona virus, by the Butantan Institute. The donation made by Ypê was made to the social organization Comunitas, which is active in partnership with the Government of São Paulo. “Ypê believes in actions that make a difference in the fight against the disease and help the Brazilian population in a direct and solidary way”, said the president of Ypê, Waldir Beira Júnior.

With the investments received by Ypê and others, the new facility at the Butantan Institute will be four times larger than the current one, and it is estimated that the first doses of vaccines will be produced in December. The factory will produce around 100 million doses of CoronaVac vaccines per year, which also marks Brazil's independence from importing vaccines. As far as is known, around 40 companies have already made donations to make the new factory in Butantan viable.

Ypê helping Brazil amid the covid-19 pandemic

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the company Ypê has already donated more than 30 million reais in hospital equipment and cleaning items alone, to social institutions and communities, and has also participated in the construction of oxygen plants in the state of Amazonas and donated 3,3 million bottles of 70% alcohol and more than 200 tons of bar soap.
