New BYD Technology, Called Super e-Platform, Will Initially Be Applied in the Han L and Tang L Models and Could Revolutionize the Charging Experience, Equaling the Refueling Time of Electric Vehicles to That of Combustion Cars. Brazil Is Among the Target Markets for Expansion.
The Chinese manufacturer BYD announced the launch of an ultra-fast charging technology that promises to deliver up to 400 km of range in just 5 minutes of charging. Named Super e-Platform, the new technology was revealed at the end of March 2025 and could be a game changer in the electric vehicle (EV) market by offering a refueling time comparable to that of gasoline or diesel-powered cars.
According to a report published by O Antagonista, the innovation promises to redefine standards of electric mobility worldwide, being considered the fastest ever presented for electric vehicles in commercial scale.
State-of-the-Art Technology With 1 Megawatt of Power
The Super e-Platform is equipped with a charging system that can reach a power of 1 megawatt (1,000 kW), far above current standards. According to BYD Global, this charger can add 2 km of range per second to the connected vehicle. This means that, in less than 5 minutes, the car is ready for over 400 km of travel.

The platform also features an electric motor capable of 30,000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and uses silicon carbide (SiC) chips, which ensure lower energy loss and greater efficiency in electric conversion — one of the main innovations pointed out by industry experts.
Application in the BYD Han L and Tang L Models
The first vehicles to incorporate the new platform will be the Han L and Tang L models (known as Tan in Brazil), which are already on pre-sale in China and are expected to launch in other markets throughout 2025. According to the manufacturer, both models will be capable of reaching speeds exceeding 300 km/h, as well as a range of over 700 km on a single charge.
The expectation is that the performance of these vehicles, combined with the new charging infrastructure, will place BYD in a prominent global position compared to other automakers like Tesla and Volkswagen, according to an analysis by Bloomberg Línea.
Expansion in Brazil and National Infrastructure
The Brazilian market is already a priority for BYD. In 2023, the brand began construction of its factory in Camaçari (BA) and announced investments of R$ 3 billion in infrastructure, production, and charging network. According to CNN Brasil, 600 new charging stations are planned across the country, some of which are already compatible with the new generation of chargers.
BYD also launched its own line of residential and commercial chargers in Brazil in 2024, which is expected to accelerate the adoption of EVs in the country, especially in major urban centers such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Curitiba.
Comparison with Other Charging Solutions
Currently, fast chargers operating in Brazil — such as those from the Ipiranga network or WEG — offer power between 50 and 150 kW, resulting in charging times between 30 minutes and 1 hour for full charges. The proposal of the Super e-Platform, with 1,000 kW, is considered revolutionary for allowing a complete charge of a car in less than 10 minutes, approaching the 3 to 5 minutes needed to refuel a traditional car.
Industry experts, such as automotive consultant Eduardo Rocha, affirm that this technology has the potential to “eliminate one of the biggest barriers to mass adoption of electric cars: charging time.”
