According to the report, the tire continued to deflate even after the application of the sealant. “I couldn’t drive even 10 km. The liquid didn’t hold, because what I had was not a puncture, it was a tear,” explained the driver.

Without a spare in the trunk, the only option was to call the 24-hour BYD assistance, available by phone at 0800 723 1314. The vehicle needed to be towed to the authorized dealer for the replacement.
According to the source, who shared the experience on the specialized website Canal VVE, the dealership did not authorize filming during the service but confirmed the need to replace not only the torn tire but also the other one on the same axle. This recommendation follows the common practice of workshops, ensuring greater safety and stability of the vehicle.
The owner also took advantage of the visit to the dealership to carry out the 20,000 km inspection, including air filter replacement, alignment, balancing, and tire rotation.
High Costs And Comparison With Online Prices
However, the service did not come cheap. Each new tire cost R$ 950 at the dealership, almost three times more expensive than the same models found online for around R$ 350 each.
The final bill was surprising: R$ 2,640, including the replacement of both tires, the 20,000 km inspection, air filter replacement (R$ 97), in addition to alignment and balancing (R$ 190). For the driver, this cost reflects the urgency of needing to solve the problem quickly and with no alternatives.
“It’s the price of not having a spare tire in the car and relying on dealer service. If I had the spare, maybe I could drive to a tire shop and pay much less,” he reported.
Tire Rotation And Technical Recommendation
During the inspection, the mechanics advised the owner to adopt the configuration of keeping new tires on the rear axle, transferring the old ones to the front. This practice, they said, ensures greater stability in turns and braking, especially when the exchange involves only two tires.
This recommendation follows safety guidelines adopted by several automakers, reinforcing the importance of carrying out inspections at authorized dealerships, even if the costs are higher.

The experience highlights a fragility of the BYD Dolphin Mini (and also of the traditional model): the lack of a factory spare tire. Although the repair kit is useful for small punctures, it proves to be ineffective for side tears, which are common on potholed streets in Brazil.
