The Technology Truck Is Offering Opportunities for Low-Income Youth from DF, with Several Programming and Robotics Courses. Courses Include Digital Marketing, 3D Printer, Python Development, and Various Others

The Technology Truck project, an initiative that offers free programming and robotics courses to various young people, opened registrations for the Federal District last Friday (28), with classes starting this month of February. Low-income youth aged 16 to 18 years can participate, and the robotics and programming courses are hybrid with in-person and EAD activities. In-person activities will take place in modified trucks that allow for study, better known as Maker Spaces. These vehicles will travel through ten regions of DF, with an estimated reach of about 600 young people in each.

The initiative that brings opportunities to DF focuses primarily on promoting digital connectivity, inclusion, and also sparking interest in research, exact sciences, and engineering among students, according to the organizers. The project is carried out by the Brazilian Network for Certification, Research, and Innovation.

The project includes four trucks equipped with 3D printers and robots. The virtual lessons will be conducted on a gamified platform, with a stimulation game of practices, knowledge, and space exploration theme.

The platform helps students develop a Rover created with a 3D printer and programmed with Bluetooth and Arduino. The free courses are designed to teach, with weekly in-person meetings, about 3,000 students in DF, and another 3,000, with bi-weekly meetings. Both groups will have access to learning materials in continuous EAD mode.

As mentioned earlier, the project seeks adolescents aged 16 to 18 from low-income backgrounds who have attended or are currently studying in public schools and reside in the administrative regions of DF.

Those interested in participating must access the Technology Truck website and fill in details such as: Full Name, Cell Phone, Date of Birth, Email, CPF, Address, Gender, Race, among others. According to Marcelo Estrela Fiche, president of RBCIP and general coordinator of the initiative, the availability of these spaces will enable better performance from students concerning time.

The project also allows for learning technologies and the practice of activities that illustrate the essential nature of programming and robotics in people’s daily lives. Students will be able to model a screw bushing and understand how the effective use of technology can change a product, for example.
