On the morning of this Friday (11), PROSUB will host the Mariner Day ceremony at the Naval Complex of Itaguaí, where the integration of the S-BR3 (Submarine Tonelero) and the launch of the S-RB2 (Submarine Humaitá) will occur.
Some photos published by ICN already show the Humaitá submarine positioned on the shiplift for its launch at the Mariner Day ceremony – PROSUB 2020. Other photos show the Tonelero submarine with its sections already positioned for its integration, which will also take place at the ceremony.

The ceremony, named “Mariner Day – PROSUB 2020,” will have the presence of President Jair Bolsonaro and other government officials, and will include the baptism and launch ceremonies of the Humaitá submarine (S-41) and the integration of the sections of the Tonelero submarine (S-42), in addition to showing the preparation for the delivery to the operational sector of the Navy of the Riachuelo (S-40), the first of PROSUB, already launched and currently undergoing final sea tests.


In compliance with the protocols for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, the PROSUB event will have a reduced number of guests; however, the entire ceremony will be broadcast live on TV Brazil and the official channel of the Navy on the YouTube platform, concurrently with the Mariner Day celebrations that will take place in the nine naval districts of the country.

Ceremony Will Include Records of Two More Submarines
The ceremony will also include records of the current assembly stage of the Angostura (S-43), the fourth submarine of PROSUB, and advances in the development of the prototype of the propulsion project of Álvaro Alberto (SN-BR), which is the first Brazilian conventional submarine with nuclear propulsion, and its launch is scheduled for the end of this year, 2020.
