New new energy SUV from Changan arrives in EV and EREV versions, focusing on the mid-segment, wide customization, and powertrain strategy that alternates efficiency and performance
Changan expands the Nevo family with the Q06, a mid-size new energy SUV that will be offered in 100% electric and EREV versions, combining 800V electric architecture and a promise of ultra-fast charging of up to 6C. The model also makes room for an AWD configuration different from the usual, with two motors mounted at the rear, in addition to adopting LiDAR integration on the roof and an unusual visual customization package.
In terms of equipment and options, the Q06 features up to 14 wheel designs, options for panoramic or closed roofs, two-tone rear spoilers, and optional rear privacy glass. Within the strategy of the sub-brand Nevo, also marketed as Qiyuan in China, the launch arrives as the fourth SUV option, alongside the Q05, Q07, and the E07 “transformer”.
Changan positions the Q06 as a mid-size SUV and strengthens the Nevo family
The Nevo Q06 is presented as a mid-size new energy SUV that strengthens the sub-brand’s portfolio and aims to cover the core of the segment. Changan uses this expansion to give more scale to Nevo, which already includes models like Q05, Q07, and the E07 “transformer”, placing the Q06 as the fourth SUV in the lineup.

BMW entered 2026 ready to turn the tables with an avalanche of launches that mix new electric vehicles, refreshed SUVs, transitioning sedans, and sports cars, in an offensive that accelerates the Neue Klasse era and could reshape the global premium competition.
The Q06’s proposal also stands out for combining two powertrain approaches, with EV and EREV versions. This indicates a more flexible strategy, offering configurations focused on efficiency as well as variations aimed at greater power and performance.
EV versions bring 800V and ultra-fast charging 6C

In electric configurations, the Q06 is built on 800V architecture and supports charging of up to 6C, although this higher rate may be limited to higher specification versions.
The expectation is that all variants will use LFP batteries, with supply mentioned from Gotion High-Tech and also units from the CATL-Changan joint venture.
The presence of the 800V system and the promise of 6C charging places Changan in an aggressive discourse of reduced downtime, something especially relevant for those considering an electric SUV for more intense use or longer commutes.
Changan bets on rear-wheel drive and an AWD with two rear motors

The EV lineup of the Q06 includes two options for a single rear motor, with quoted power ratings of 210 kW and 225 kW. The performance-oriented option uses a configuration of two rear motors, with 165 kW per motor, forming an AWD setup aimed at higher performance.
The maximum speed varies according to the configuration, ranging from 124 mph to 143 mph. The architecture chosen by Changan stands out for offering AWD with two motors at the rear, a solution that reinforces the idea of modularity of the powertrain within the same product.
Taixing system promises more control in critical situations
The powertrain setups are associated with the distributed driving system Taixing, which Changan describes as capable of improving stability control. Among the cited examples are traction management in demanding conditions and even management in case of a tire blowout.
This type of promise attempts to position the Q06 not only as a powerful and fast-charging SUV but as a product that connects performance to control and operational safety in scenarios of greater dynamic stress.
EREV combines two rear motors with an internal combustion engine as a range extender
The EREV version maintains the layout of two rear motors and adds a 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder internal combustion engine, with an indicated power of 72 kW, acting as a range extender. The maximum speed in this variant is around 137 mph.
The mentioned engine is identified as Changan JL469Q1, already used in other models mentioned in the base, such as Deepal L07, S05, Nevo A06, and A05 in plug-in hybrid format. This reinforces Changan’s strategy of sharing components across platforms and accelerating portfolio expansion.
LiDAR on the roof and up to 14 different wheels expand the customization package

Regulatory records cited point to an extensive list of customizations, including up to 14 wheel designs, panoramic or closed roofs, two-tone rear spoilers, LiDAR integration on the roof, and optional rear privacy glass.
For the electrified SUV market, this volume of options suggests an attempt to compete not only on technical numbers but also on variety of versions and visual appeal. Changan seems to bet on differentiation by configuration, rather than a single closed product package.
Changan evaluates sodium batteries and tries to regain Nevo momentum
According to Interesting Engineering, there is a possible technical approach between the A06 and the Q06 that could pave the way for the use of Naxtra sodium battery technology, associated with the idea of better performance in low temperatures, where traditional lithium chemistries may struggle.
In the case of the A06, the system is described as using a 45 kWh battery and an estimated range of over 250 miles. If this chemistry is extended to the Q06, the proposal would be to improve efficiency in cold weather and offer a competitive cost alternative in selected versions.
The backdrop is a moment of pressure for the sub-brand. Cited data indicates 25,184 domestic deliveries between January and February 2026, but also points to month-to-month declines since September 2025.
In this scenario, Changan expands the portfolio to try to stabilize volumes and regain traction in a highly competitive new energy vehicle market.
Do you think Changan’s most interesting bet on the Q06 is the 6C charging with 800V or the AWD with two rear motors, and why?
