Largest Flower Festival in Latin America Brings Together Thousands of Visitors in Holambra, São Paulo, with Parades, Petal Showers, Exhibitions, and Cultural Attractions. Event Celebrates Spring and Inspires Floral Walks in the State Capital.

Holambra, approximately 130 km from São Paulo, opened on Friday (29) the 42nd edition of Expoflora, considered the largest flower and ornamental plant festival in Latin America.

The event runs until September 28, always on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 9 AM to 7 PM, featuring arrangement exhibitions, “petal showers,” landscaping and gardening displays, themed parades, garden visits, and around 250 artistic performances throughout the program.

Program and Attractions of Expoflora

Expoflora features over 4,000 varieties from around 300 species of flowers and ornamental plants, according to the organizers.

Visitors can find scenographic environments that simulate houses and gardens, floral decoration proposals for different spaces, and showcases with trends in floriculture.

At designated times throughout the day, the “petal shower” spreads thousands of flowers over the audience, while the Parade of Flowers travels the avenues with themed floats and costumes inspired by spring species and colors.

In addition to the exhibition route, the park has a space dedicated to purchasing seedlings, arrangements, and gardening supplies.

Typical dances, musical performances, and regional group showcases make up the cultural program.

There are also gastronomy areas that blend Brazilian recipes with references to Dutch cuisine, a trait present in the local history.

How to Visit Expoflora

The 2025 edition takes place from August 29 to September 28, three days a week, at the Expoflora Park in Holambra. Hours are from 9 AM to 7 PM.

Tickets are sold in advance by the organization, and the recommended age rating is free, with guidance for those under 16 to be accompanied.

The recommendation is to check in advance the access conditions to the internal attractions that have separate charges, as well as to consult the daily schedule of parades and performances to plan the route through the park.

For those leaving from São Paulo, the road journey takes, on average, 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and the chosen route.

The municipality has tourist signage and a reception network that offers guided tours of production fields, greenhouses, and historical sites.

Holambra, National Capital of Flowers

Founded by Dutch immigrants, Holambra preserves the architecture, traditions, and cultural references of the Netherlands.

The city was recognized in 2011 as the National Capital of Flowers and, along with its microregion, accounts for most of the flower and ornamental plant sales in the country.

This vocation is reflected in the displays, the urban landscape, and the annual event calendar, with Expoflora serving as a stage for floriculture launches and the promotion of new landscaping techniques.

Over the past decades, the festival has solidified as a showcase for the sector and a tourist attraction.

According to data provided by the organization in recent editions, the average attendance in recent years exceeds several hundred thousand visitors, with tourists from various states.

Floral Itinerary in São Paulo

Those who prefer not to hit the road can also find options to enjoy gardens and green areas in São Paulo.

Inspired by the vibe of Expoflora, it is possible to create an urban itinerary of nature and floriculture that fits into a weekend.

Botanical Garden of São Paulo

In the south zone, the Botanical Garden of São Paulo offers marked trails in an Atlantic Forest area, palm tree avenues, lakes, and greenhouses with a living collection of native and exotic species.

The space serves research, conservation, and environmental education roles, with visitation areas that allow observing different biomes and the diversity of plants in the country.

For families, the flat paths and shaded areas facilitate movement.

Ibirapuera Park and the Manequinho Lopes Nursery

In the south-central part of the city, Ibirapuera Park combines cultural spaces and extensive green areas.

Here lies the Manequinho Lopes Nursery, dedicated to the production of seedlings for urban afforestation.

Visitors can learn about the structure and, at certain times, observe botanical collections and cultivation beds.

A few minutes on foot, landscaped gardens integrate with park museums, enhancing the experience for those seeking photography and contemplation.

Cantareira State Park

In the north of São Paulo, the Cantareira State Park, especially the Pedra Grande Sector, offers direct contact with the forest and trails leading to natural viewpoints.

On clear days, the rocky outcrop allows for a broad view of the metropolis.

The visitation structure includes routes of varying levels, and it is advisable to check in advance the access conditions, tickets, and conservation area rules.

Villa-Lobos Park and the Ruth Cardoso Orchidarium

In the west zone, Villa-Lobos Park combines woodland areas, gardens, and leisure facilities, and houses the Ruth Cardoso Orchidarium, a space dedicated to collections and educational activities about orchids.

The park features bike paths and extensive lawns, making the visit an alternative for those who want to intersperse contemplation and outdoor activities in a single outing.

Early Spring in the Tourist Calendar

The opening of Expoflora anticipates the feeling of spring in the tourist calendar.

While Holambra celebrates floriculture on a large scale, the capital offers accessible options for those who want to bring the theme into their daily lives, whether by exploring botanical collections or walking through protected Atlantic Forest areas.

This combination allows visitors to choose between an immersion in the world of flowers in the interior or green experiences just a few kilometers from home.

With the festival underway and the city mobilized around the theme, which scenario do you intend to visit first: the greenhouses and historic gardens of the capital or the fields and floral parades that transform Holambra during Expoflora?

Estive passeando lá no mes passado com um grupo de amigos e ficamos todos maravilhados com as flores por toda a cidade, além da beleza natural.
