When it comes to public safety, few regions manage to stand out positively in the Brazilian scenario. However, the Yearbook of the Safest Cities in Brazil 2024, developed by MySide based on data from IBGE and the Ministry of Health, brought encouraging results.
The study identified the 15 safest cities in the country, analyzing the violent death rate per 100,000 inhabitants, and revealed a clear trend: the interior of São Paulo leads with a wide margin, followed by good examples in Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais, and Paraná.
The survey shows that ten of the fifteen safest cities in Brazil are in São Paulo, reinforcing the state’s weight in urban development, infrastructure, and public management focused on security and well-being. In addition, Santa Catarina has three cities among the best ranked, while Minas Gerais and Paraná complete the ranking with one city each.

1. Valinhos (SP)

4. Sertãozinho (SP)
With 2.4 murders per 100,000 inhabitants, Sertãozinho occupies the fourth place and reinforces the prominence of the interior of São Paulo. 9. Araxá (MG)

10. Ribeirão Pires (SP)
Tied with Santana de Parnaíba, Ribeirão Pires also reports 3.9 murders per 100,000 inhabitants. Located in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the city is known for its green areas and ecological tourism. 12. Blumenau (SC)
In twelfth place is Blumenau, with 4.0 murders per 100,000 inhabitants. The city in Santa Catarina is famous for its Oktoberfest and its industrial profile, especially in the textile and technology sectors. The city stands out for its cleanliness, urbanization, and quality of public services.

14. São Caetano do Sul (SP)
In fourteenth place is São Caetano do Sul, with 4.8 murders per 100,000 inhabitants. 15. Arapongas (PR)

Among the 15 safest cities in Brazil in 2024, São Paulo leads with 10 municipalities, which corresponds to two-thirds of the ranking. This supremacy highlights the impact of security policies, economic development, and consolidated infrastructure in the interior of São Paulo. Medium-sized cities with good public management and quality of life show that it is possible to achieve security indices close to those of developed countries.
