The Creation of a Platform Focused on Sharing the Database on Climate Influence in the Solar and Wind Energy Sector in Brazil Will Be Essential for Attracting New Investments within the Sector in the Country
The Research, Development, and Innovation laboratory of Climatempo announced a partnership with the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and EPE (Energy Research Company) this past Monday, (05/02). Thus, the companies will be responsible for creating a platform with a database on the influence of climate on the production of energy from solar and wind sources in Brazil.
Climatempo, GIZ, and EPE Project Will Enable the Largest Database on Climate Influence in the Solar and Wind Energy Sector in Brazil to Attract New Investments in the Sector
In a tripartite partnership focused on Brazil’s energy sector, Climatempo, GIZ, and EPE announced their latest project, a platform that will have a database on the influence of climate on the production of solar and wind energy in the country. Thus, any entrepreneur will be able to access this information for the development of new projects focused on the sector within the national territory over the coming years.
The main objective of the companies’ project is the development and availability of a digital platform where a climate database will be made available. Thus, the database will contain key information on climate and the variables impacting solar and wind production. Moreover, the platform brings a set of products and tools aimed at generating information that contributes to more efficient investment planning for the sector for people looking to develop projects in the country.
Thus, Climatempo noted in a statement that “All available data will be validated using statistical techniques and the observational data available, ensuring that the final product is extremely calibrated and reliable for the planning of these markets.” Moreover, the company stated that the collected data will span 40 years in the sector in the country: “This reference will bring a set of products for these segments with data based on observations, multimodels with technical-scientific methods and criteria aimed at producing inputs that contribute to an efficient allocation of public and private investments in the energy sector.”
Platform with a Database on Climate Influence in the Renewable Energy Sector Will Be Essential for the Growth of the Energy Sector in Brazil
The Climatempo company emerged in the 1980s and is a Brazilian company that offers Meteorology services, headquartered in São Paulo, with a large portfolio throughout the country. GIZ is a German company founded in 1975 and specializes in technical cooperation and sustainable development projects on a global scale. Finally, EPE aims to provide services in the area of studies and research to support energy sector planning, covering electricity, oil, natural gas, and their derivatives.
Thus, the companies are major references within the solar and wind energy generation segment and now seek to expand this sector in Brazil. To achieve this, the development of the platform with the database on climate influence in energy production in Brazil is the main strategy adopted by the project partners. Thus, it will be possible to clarify the country’s conditions for producing this resource and, with that, bring new perspectives to the segment.
The platform is expected to become a reference for the wind and solar sector, such that any institution will be able to use it, thus providing an essential and highly accessible initiative for the sector by entrepreneurs.
