The Last Week Was Quite Busy For Aneel, Since The Agency Won The 13 Lots In The Energy Transmission Auction. The Auction Indicates That The Lots Were Sold For The Management Of Assets Dedicated To The Flow Of Renewable Energy.

Last Thursday, (06/30), at the headquarters of B3 in São Paulo, the energy transmission auction conducted by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) secured investments of around R$ 15.3 billion in the area.

Data Provided In The Auction Indicates That The Investments Attributed To The 13 Available Lots Are Around R$ 15.3 Billion

In this regard, according to the General Coordinator of Transmission Planning at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Guilherme Zanetti, the auction held this year was the second largest energy transmission auction ever held. The initial investment estimate is R$ 15.3 billion, but the amount may vary, as companies seek alternatives to save.

According to the rules, the company that won each lot was the one that offered the lowest Reference Annual Allowed Revenue (RAP) to be paid. That is, the one with the greatest devaluation relative to the reference value. In the end, the total RAP amounted to about R$ 1.206 billion, with a reduction of 46.16% from what was expected by the regulatory agency.

The highlights of the day were the projects of lots 1, 2, and 3, the most contested in the session. The great expectation was that investments in these lots would exceed R$ 12 billion, and the intense competition was greatly celebrated by Aneel.

However, for Aneel’s director, Hélvio Guerra, more than the attracted investments, the new strategic results that will be enabled with the energy lots stand out, especially the advances that will be possible in northern Minas Gerais.

The energy transmission auction featured significant competition among the largest companies in the electricity sector. In this sense, the session held in São Paulo was divided into 2 phases, in the first phase, 6 lots were offered. Lot number 1 was won by the Verde Consortium, formed by Cymi and Brasil Energia, offering a RAP of R$ 283.3 million.

The purchase of lot 2 was secured by the company Neoenergia, which offered a RAP of R$ 360 million. Neoenergia’s executives explained in a teleconference that after extensive evaluation of the lots, they managed to establish firm agreements.

“We achieved this with firm and binding proposals from large companies. Today we have firm proposals that allow us to reach that goal. The discounts on capex are solid and real,” celebrated Eduardo Capelastegui, the future executive who is expected to take over as president of Neoenergia after Mário Ruiz-Tagle’s departure.

Lot number 3 was won by the company Isa Cteep, offering a RAP of about R$ 285 million, and the company once again succeeded by also securing lot 11 after a fierce competition with the company EDP.

According to Rui Chammas, director and president of Isa Cteep, the discount for the company is a consequence of thorough and careful analysis where all calculations and analyses of the minimum return are made, which will define what the RAP is and what the discount is, which was a success for Aneel’s directors. He explained the extensive work and grand success of the company in the energy transmission auction.
