Araucária, city located in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, has established itself as the largest industrial pole in Paraná, with around 900 active industries generating approximately R$ 43 billion annually for state coffers.
This value is nearly double what the industrial sector generates in the capital, Curitiba, reinforcing the economic importance of the city to the state.
Much beyond the famous Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery (REPAR), one of the historical landmarks of the local industry, Araucária presents a diverse and robust industrial profile.

According to experts and local data, the municipality has a wide range of productive sectors including metallurgy, woodworking, paper and cardboard, mechanical, biochemical, food, plastics, among other segments.
The constant pursuit of innovation and competitiveness leads these industries to continuously invest in modernizing processes and expanding their facilities.
Those who travel through the city’s industrial region notice that construction never ceases, reflecting the dynamic economic expansion of the city.
In addition to the traditional industrial sector, Araucária has also stood out as a strategic pole for the installation of distribution centers for major e-commerce players, bolstered by its privileged location within the metropolitan area of Curitiba.
Expansion of Distribution Centers and Industries
Among the largest ongoing investments is the new distribution center for Mercado Livre, located in the Fazenda Velha neighborhood, which will cover an area of more than 327 thousand square meters, with warehouses totaling nearly 93 thousand square meters of constructed area.
This is the largest construction project in the city since the establishment of Repar in 1977.
The facility will have a maneuvering yard of over 100 thousand square meters, and the expectation is to generate around 1,100 direct jobs, potentially reaching up to 4,500 jobs when considering indirect positions.
Another highlight is Panelux, a company in the Alcast Group, which acquired the former Trane plant on Avenida dos Pinheirais to expand its pressure cooker line.
The unit will cover approximately 20 thousand square meters and is expected to generate more than 400 direct jobs, with plans to start operations in the second half of this year.
Belgian multinational Impextraco is also in the process of setting up in Araucária, occupying a former Alltech plant on Curió Street.
With a total area of 75 thousand square meters, the company aims to expand the built area to about 15 thousand square meters to produce special additives for feed and ingredients for animal feed.

New Investments and Growing Sectors
The FRM (Fábrica de Rolamentos e Mancais), representing an investment of around R$ 150 million, is beginning the construction of its new unit in the Chapada neighborhood, at the corner of Curió Street and Avenida das Nações.
The industrial complex will have more than 43 thousand square meters of land and over 25 thousand square meters of constructed area across three levels.
The company promises to generate approximately 450 direct jobs and operates strongly in the manufacturing of components for Brazilian agribusiness machinery, with exports to North America and Europe.
Another company that recently acquired land for expansion is Agricopel TRR, specialized in supplying diesel fuel to end consumers.
Headquartered in Jaraguá do Sul (SC), the company purchased a 50 thousand square meter plot in the Thomaz Coelho neighborhood to install a new unit, with the project details remaining confidential.
Metalúrgica Pinfer, a steel tile manufacturer founded in 2000, will also relocate its headquarters to Araucária after acquiring a 110 thousand square meter area in the Thomaz Coelho neighborhood.

Logistics and Foods Drive the City
The distribution center for Contabilista, a traditional company supplying office supplies, will be relocated from Curitiba to Araucária.
The logistical warehouse of more than 15 thousand square meters on Albino Ferreira Street is set to open in the second half of 2025.
In the food sector, Cymco Alimentos, with more than a decade of activity, was producing frozen snacks in Curitiba but recently built a new factory of 2,500 square meters in the Thomaz Coelho neighborhood.
Meanwhile, BRW Suprimentos, a wholesaler of school supplies, has expanded its operations with a new distribution center of 15 thousand square meters in the same area, which is currently under construction.
Gelopar, the largest national manufacturer of vertical freezers for baking, is expanding its facilities by 15 thousand square meters to maintain its competitiveness in the market.

Continuous Expansion in the Araucária Industry
In addition to these investments, other local companies continue to expand their operations.
Berneck, a large company, plans to construct a distribution center exceeding 15 thousand square meters next to Dr. Valério Sobania Street.
Parnaplast is also steadily expanding on its land along Avenida das Araucárias.
In the Barigui neighborhood, Metalúrgica JKR is increasing its production with a new warehouse of one thousand square meters, while Belemar Logística is increasing its storage space.
Metalúrgica Duct, which manufactures machinery for the food industry, is scaling up from 500 square meters to 3,000 square meters in its new facilities on Aldair Miguel Buiar Street.
On Avenida dos Pinheirais, Construtora WP is finishing a logistical warehouse of 7 thousand square meters, classified as J-4, allowing for the safe storage of hazardous products—a significant differential for the local market.
Context of the Fuels Sector and Market
In another scenario, Minister Alexandre Silveira sent a letter to the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) denouncing that some privatized refineries, especially the Amazon Refinery (Ream), have been charging significantly higher prices than other suppliers and the import parity price.
The Ream, contacted for clarification, stated that it operates in compliance with the law and faces specific logistical challenges in the Northern Region.
The minister also called for investigations into anti-competitive practices in the distribution and resale of fuels, including irregularities related to the mandatory blend of 14% biodiesel into diesel, effective since March 2024.
Measures such as donating equipment for supervision to the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) and joint actions with the Federal Police against piracy in the Northern waterways are underway.
Additionally, decree no. 12,437, from April 2025, of the National Biofuels Policy (RenovaBio), foresees fines of up to R$ 500 million and suspension of activities for defaulting companies, reinforcing the fight against irregularities in the sector.
Araucária as the Industrial Engine of Paraná
With its diverse industrial base and continuous investments, Araucária stands out as one of the main economic engines of Paraná, attracting investments that generate thousands of jobs and move billions in state revenue.
The city has everything it needs to continue growing and consolidating its strategic role in the Brazilian industry in the coming years.
