Comgás Cuts Tariffs For The Industry Until June After Approval By Arsesp

The Brazilian Natural Gas Distributor Comgás Cut Its Tariffs for Industrial Consumers by an Average of 12.9% Until June 9.

The tax exemption for industrial consumers ranges from 10.4% to 14.1%, approved by the national regulator Arsesp. Comgás has gas supply contracts with the state-owned Petrobras and with the trading company Compass, but the latter’s contract is not currently active. Petrobras reduced its offer to natural gas distributors by 11.1% in early January due to lower oil prices, which are the reference for the contract.

The price of gas in the Comgás concessions fell by an average of 13%. The Public Utility Regulatory Agency of the State of São Paulo (Arsesp) published the latest update on the passing of gas costs and the graphical accounts in Comgás’s tariff in the Official Gazette on Thursday (9), effective from March 10, 2023. According to the agency, the average variation was -13%.

According to deliberation 1.389/2023 on December 9, 2022, in this new update, variations in industrial value costs, for example, -14.1% for industries consuming over 10,000,000 m3 and for consumption up to 2,000,000 m3, the variation was -13.7%, with consumption of 1,000,000 m³ being -13.5%; even in the industrial sector with a consumption of 30,000 m³, the variation was -10.4%.
