PMERJ Contest: According to the State Military Police Secretary, this will be the first contest held after nearly a decade. The last one took place in 2014, offering six thousand positions and attracting 105 thousand applicants.
On June 14, applications will open for a new public contest by the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ), which will offer two thousand positions for soldiers. Interested candidates, who must be between 18 and 32 years old, will have until July 12 to apply. The selection process reserves 10% of the positions for women and requires a complete high school education. The announcement for the selection was published in the State Official Gazette on Friday (05/26). The application fee will be R$ 100.
Requirements and Demands of the PMERJ Contest
Before applying, candidates should pay attention to the rules of the announcement.
The PM clarifies that the age limit considered will be 32 years, 11 months, and 29 days until June 14, 2023, the application start date.

Additionally, a minimum height of 1.65 m for men and 1.60 m for women will be required. Besides a complete high school education, candidates must also possess a National Driver’s License (CNH).
All categories of CNH are valid, except for category A, which licenses the holder only to drive motorcycles.
Candidates must be qualified to drive a four-wheeled vehicle. Therefore, category AB, which allows the driving of both cars and motorcycles, will be accepted.
Training Course and Stages of the Selection Process
Right after applying, competitors will go through 9 stages of the selection process, which are:
- Multiple-choice exam;
- Essay;
- Filling out the Confidential Information Form (FIC) for the social examination and verification of the application requirements for the contest;
- Anthropometric examination — measuring the physical dimensions of a person, considering weight, height, and Body Mass Index (BMI);
- Physical ability test;
- Psychological examination;
- Medical examinations;
- Social and toxicological examination;
- Document evaluation.
Those who succeed and pass all stages will be summoned for the Soldiers’ Training Course.
However, it is essential that these candidates present themselves on the date set by the Personnel Recruitment and Selection Directorate (DRSP) to enter the Center for Training and Improvement of Privates (CFAP), located in Jardim Sulacap, in the West Zone of Rio.
The duration of the training course will be 12 months, during which students will receive a gross salary of R$ 2,956.41.
After training, soldiers will have a gross salary of R$ 5,233.88, corresponding to the entry-level salary.
How to Apply and What Are the Stages of the PMERJ Contest
Starting June 14, candidates must fill out the application form available on the IBADE website (CLICK HERE).
If they do not have internet access, they can go to the service desk at the DRSP, located at Avenida Marechal Fontenele 2,906, in Jardim Sulacap. The service is available Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 4 PM.
The exam is scheduled to take place on August 27 and will be multiple-choice.
In this first phase, to be approved, candidates must achieve a percentage of 60% correct answers and not score 0 (zero) in any subject.
If they meet these requirements, they may participate in the second phase of the PMERJ contest, which consists of writing an essay (discursive written exam), scheduled to be held on October 29, requiring a minimum score of 50 points to continue competing for soldier positions.
