With that in mind, the team at Click Petróleo e Gás decided to conduct a survey and highlight seven coins that circulated during the Real Plan in Brazil and are currently worth a good amount of money.

The high prices paid for these coins happen because they carry unique characteristics that make them desirable to those who enjoy collecting these items.

SEVEN Very Rare And Valuable Coins From The Real Plan

One Real Coin From 1998

The first coin on the list is from 1998 and was created in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Today, these coins, which feature an iconic logo of the Declaration, are highly sought after by collectors. A survey shows that today, its value can range between R$ 200 to R$ 330.

The 1 Real Coin From 1999

Another coin considered rare and highly sought after is a 1 real coin created in 1999. This coin was made in large quantities, but is considered rare because it is a special edition. Since the mintage was high, almost four million, its price usually does not exceed R$ 15.

The 10 Cent Coin From 1999

Currently, one of the most valuable coins of 10 cents is the one manufactured in 1999. The model is desired by collectors due to its mintage being considered low by standards. Today, the coin, depending on its integrity, can be worth more than three thousand times its face value.

The 10 Cent Coin From 2000

Another rare 10 cent coin is the one made in 2000. The coin has been traded for up to R$ 200. This is because it has a characteristic it shouldn’t have: its reverse is rotated 180º, meaning it is inverted.

The 50 Cent Coin From 2012

Moving from the coins of 10 cents, we find one of 50 that is also valuable, due to an error that caused the coin to have the image of 5 cents on it. This error made the coin rare, causing it to be worth up to R$ 1,500, depending on its condition.

The One Real Coin From 2012

Finally, the valuable coin from the Real Plan is the one real coin that was issued in 2012. This coin was a celebration of the delivery of the Olympic flag. Due to its exclusive design featuring the Olympic flag, this coin can have prices ranging from R$ 90 to R$ 120.

How The Valuation Of A Coin Works

In Brazil, especially after the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, when special coins were launched, the culture of collecting these items has increased. Today, besides these coins from the Olympics, some from the Real Plan, created in 1994, are also sought after by collectors.

Today, what determines the value of a coin are limited details or those that are part of commemorative editions that tend to be more valuable. In addition, another factor that can increase a coin’s value is minting errors, which can occur due to malfunctions in the minting machine or human errors during the production process.
