ANP Grants Authorization And Consortium Cabiúnas 1, Owner Of The Gas Pipeline Rota 2, Will Increase Its Capacity To 20 Million M³/Day.
On last Monday (07/01), the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) met the request of Consortium Cabiúnas 1, owner of the gas pipeline Rota 2, and granted authorization to increase the capacity of natural gas flow from 16 million to 20 million m³/day from the pre-salt fields to the processing unit in Cabiúnas, in Macaé (RJ).
In Operation since 2016, the gas pipeline Rota 2 is the link for the flow of natural gas from the platforms of the pre-salt fields, with the largest being the Lula field.

The gas pipeline is 382 kilometers long and starts in the pre-salt area of the Santos Basin, extending to the Cabiúnas Gas Treatment Unit (UTGCAB), operating in the city of Macaé, where the gas is processed and distributed.
Owned by Petrobras, Shell, Petrogal, and Repsol Sinopec, the Rota 2 gas pipeline has a diameter of 24 inches (about 61 centimeters) and its previous capacity was to transport up to 16 million cubic meters of natural gas daily.
Project For New Pipelines
During OTC 2019, in Houston, the Secretary of Petroleum and Gas of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Márcio Félix, stated that Petrobras Is Studying To Build More Gas Pipeline Networks, Which Will Be Called Rota 4, 5, And 6.
The routes would serve to help in the flow of natural gas produced in the Pre-salt of the Santos Basin; today Petrobras has Rota 1, 2, and 3.
The new pipelines have the capacity to flow up to 45 million m³ per day of natural gas and according to the initial study, they would have a length of 515 km.
