The Venture in PE Will Be Orion Group’s First Factory in the Northeast, and Construction Works Are Expected to Create About 250 Direct Jobs
Good news and opportunities for Pernambuco! Orion Upholstery Manufacturing, part of the Umaflex Group, will install a factory in the interior of the state, specifically in the municipality of Escada (PE). It is estimated that around 250 direct jobs will be created with the venture, whose construction is expected to start next month. The announcement was made by the Governor of Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara, on Thursday (24).

With investments of approximately R$ 20 million, the factory will be the group’s first unit in the Northeast and will produce mattresses, upholstery, and high-quality foams. The inauguration of the plant is scheduled to take place in September 2021.
The factory will be constructed at the Business Park in the municipality of Escada, in an area of six hectares, located at BR-101 Sul, Km 125. The new unit was assisted by the Industry Stimulus Program of the State of Pernambuco (Proind) and will receive deferral of up to 85% of the ICMS, which may extend until 2032.

With the construction of the factory in Pernambuco, Orion intends to minimize logistics costs for other divisions in the Northeast, increasing its market share in the state and throughout the region.
Pernambuco Considered an Industrial Hub in the Northeast
According to data from the state administration, from January to September this year, 52 new private projects, mainly in industry, have been attracted to Pernambuco.
The governor of the state celebrated: “another industry is establishing itself in Pernambuco”, referring to the establishment of Orion’s industrial unit in Escada, with expectations of generating jobs and income at such a difficult time for the world.
“Pernambuco, with its planning, skilled labor, and credibility, seeks to attract investments. We have been successful and helped Pernambuco return to sustainable growth. A growth that the pandemic prevented from being faster, but now we are catching up”, Câmara added.
