The 2W Energia Wind Complex Will Be Located in the Municipalities of Currais Novos and São Vicente, in the State of Rio Grande do Norte

2W Energia has started construction of the Anemus Wind Complex. The works of the complex, which will consist of three parks, will be developed by Allonda Engenharia, a company focused on sustainable solutions. Currently, engineering and planning work are being developed, site preparation is underway, and personnel is being hired. The project will be in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The Anemus Wind Complex in Rio Grande do Norte

The company reported that the wind complex is located in the municipalities of Currais Novos and São Vicente, in Rio Grande do Norte, and will have a plant for generating clean and renewable energy, with 138.6 MW of installed capacity. The energy generated will be primarily allocated to customers of 2W’s retail division, consisting of small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to migrate to the free energy market.

According to 2W Energia, the Anemus complex will have 33 wind turbines with a nominal power of 4.2 MW each. The rotor diameter will be 147 meters, and the height of the towers will be 125 meters above the ground. The combined generation capacity of the three parks will be equivalent to supplying energy to 360,000 households, preventing the emission of over 260,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.

Investments for the Construction of the Project

To ensure the full funding of the Anemus wind complex, 2W issued R$ 475 million in green debentures. The operation, certified as a “Green Bond,” is a milestone for the energy sector, as it is exclusively funded by a portfolio of energy sale contracts for small and medium-sized Brazilian companies in the Free Energy Contracting Environment. With the issuance of the debentures, the Anemus wind farm completes the financial structuring of the resources for its construction.

The complex in Rio Grande do Norte will occupy an area of approximately 3,700 hectares and will consist of 3 wind parks, with 33 wind turbines that together will have an installed capacity of approximately 139 MW. The start of operations is expected to begin in the first half of 2022. All energy generated by Anemus Wind will be sold in the Free Contracting Environment (ACL), promoting democratization of access to 100% renewable energy in Brazil.

Statkraft Brasil has begun construction of the Ventos de Santa Eugênia wind complex in Uibaí, in the state of Bahia. By the end of the project, with inauguration expected in 2023, the company will more than double the country’s installed capacity to 967 megawatts. Since the start of the project, more than 200 professionals have already been hired. It is estimated that approximately 750 people will be employed in the construction works throughout the entire process. There are currently 15 job openings available.

The company’s business strategy in Brazil aims to triple its renewable energy production capacity by 2025. With the construction of the project, Statkraft has reinforced its commitment to sustainability and allowed future generations to enjoy growth and development in the region. This will expand the supply of renewable energy in Brazil, with the wind complex project in Bahia contributing to reduce the country’s carbon dioxide emissions and the pace of global warming, as the environmental impact of wind energy is lower than that of the traditional energy matrix.
