Integrating Goiás State’s Efficiency Program, CelgPAR’s Proposal for the Plant Aims to Reach 5 Megawatts
CelgPAR, a company supervised by the state of Goiás in the Midwest, signed a contract for the construction of a 5-megawatt photovoltaic plant, as reported and published by the Solar Channel. The project will be implemented in the city of Cachoeira Dourada, located in southern Goiás. According to estimates, CelgPAR’s plant is expected to begin operations later this year, in September.

According to information provided by CelgPAR, more than 15,000 solar modules, 50 photovoltaic inverters, and 170 trackers will be used in the construction of the plant.
Furthermore, the foundation of the plant is part of the Goiás State Efficiency Program, which aims to transform all public institutions in the state of Goiás into self-sufficient entities regarding electric power consumption. Thus, the expectation is that the energy generated by the new plant built by CelgPAR will be sufficient to offset the amount consumed by the government agencies and departments in Goiás.

According to the government of the state of Goiás, the Efficiency Program initially aims to achieve 15 megawatts. The plant in Cachoeira Dourada is part of the first phase of the program, with the construction of two additional plants, one at the State University of Goiás (UEG) and another at the Central Supply of Goiás (Ceasa), already undergoing the bidding process.
According to CelgPAR’s president, José Fernando Navarrete, contemporary society needs a different vision of progress, which includes clean and renewable energy sources. From this perspective, the state of Goiás shows significant potential for harnessing solar light.
In the opinion of CelgPAR’s president, Governor Ronaldo Caiado’s decision, from the Democrats party, to invest in photovoltaic energy is a political and economic initiative that aligns with the current and important global debate on sustainable development.
The winning construction company for the bidding process was Lotus Empreendimentos, which will have up to 30 days to establish the construction site in the area. The total area to be occupied by the construction is 120,000 square meters owned by CelgPAR, and it is projected that around 200 direct jobs will be generated during the plant’s foundation.
