Mayor Abilio Brunini Launches the “Casa Cuiabana” Program and Unlocks Minha Casa Minha Vida Projects; Construction of New Affordable Homes Increases Housing Supply and Highlights the Growth of the Mato Grosso Capital.
The City Hall of Cuiabá announced the construction of 700 new affordable homes as part of the Casa Cuiabana municipal program, in partnership with the Federal Government, contractors, and possible support from the State Government, through the Ser Família Habitação project. This measure reinforces the municipal administration’s commitment to addressing the housing deficit and urban expansion of the Mato Grosso capital.
Applications Open for New Beneficiaries of Affordable Homes in Cuiabá
In addition to the new units, 692 apartments linked to Minha Casa Minha Vida are underway, with 500 in the Jardim Comodoro neighborhood and 192 in the Tijucal neighborhood, expected to be completed between August and September 2026.
The works were stalled during the previous administration, according to current Mayor Abilio Brunini (PL), who highlighted the administration’s efforts to resume the projects:
-
Created by George Lucas with over $1 billion, a futuristic museum in the shape of a spaceship with 1,500 curved panels is about to open in Los Angeles and will house one of the largest private collections of narrative art in the world.
-
Couple shows how they built a retaining wall on their property using 400 old tires: sloped land turned into plateaus, tires are aligned, filled, and compacted with layers of soil, with grass helping in support and at almost zero cost.

Engineer explains drainage during the rainy season: the difference between surface water and deep water, ditches, gutters, and water outlets on the road, as well as drains and drainage mattresses, to prevent erosion, aquaplaning, and flooding at the construction site today.

With 55 floors, 177 meters in height, a 15-meter walkway between the twin towers, ventilated facade, and 6,300 m² of leisure space, Ápice Towers already has one tower completed and another nearly at the top.
“Former Mayor Emanuel Pinheiro left the process stopped, but the current administration has unblocked the project.”
Applications for housing units in Jardim Comodoro and Tijucal will take place between June 17 and July 31, both online, through the Habitanet portal, and in person, at the Department of Housing and the Department of Women.
Families with an income of up to R$ 2,850, who are registered in CadÚnico and do not own a property, will be eligible to participate.
A key feature of the program is that 15% of the homes will be reserved for women heads of households, strengthening the policy of social inclusion.
Shared Structure: Role of the City Hall and Caixa
According to the mayor, the program’s execution model includes a division of responsibilities: the City Hall will be responsible for infrastructure, including water, sewage, and community facilities, while the contractors will oversee construction and Caixa Econômica Federal will fund part of the works. This measure aims to optimize public resources and ensure speedy delivery of the homes.
