Last Wednesday, (03/08), the Consul General of Holland in Brazil, Niels Veenis, visited the SENAI Institute of Innovation in Renewable Energies (ISI-ER) in Rio Grande do Norte. He discussed with representatives of the state government the possibility of investments in the regional market. Among the sectors that stood out to the executive, wind energy and green hydrogen are the major bets for the future of the state’s economy.
The State of Rio Grande do Norte May Count on Dutch Investments in the Wind Energy and Green Hydrogen Sector Due to High Production Potential
The Consul General of Holland visited ISI-ER in the state of Rio Grande do Norte last week and met with key representatives of the state administration to discuss economic investments in the state.
The sectors that attracted the most attention from the executive and Dutch companies, according to Niels, are those of wind energy and green hydrogen, currently seen as the major bets for the future of the Brazilian energy market.

Niels Veenis commented: “I had knowledge and references about the Institute, but getting to know it in person and in detail gives the impression that it is something of even greater importance and develops research that will have repercussions for the future of the renewable energy sector,” regarding what he knew about ISI-ER of Rio Grande do Norte, and emphasized that “there are several Dutch companies interested in this, private companies and research institutes, I remember at least one that is particularly focused on the flow of gases and liquids, which makes it possible to present projects to see if collaboration can be developed,” regarding investments that may come to the state.
Consul of Holland is Confident About the Partnership Between Rio Grande do Norte and the Country for Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen Sectors
In addition to commenting on his impressions about ISI-ER during his visit to Rio Grande do Norte, the Dutch consul also highlighted that the main focus of the country in the Potiguar territory is the production of wind energy, due to the state’s leadership in the national market, as well as the possibility of making the state the first major producer of green hydrogen in Brazil.
He confirmed that there are several Dutch private initiative companies already eyeing Rio Grande do Norte and hopes that the future will bring the country and the state closer together. The executive learned more details about ISI-ER and the sectors in question during his visit and attended a presentation on the Institute’s infrastructure, equipment, ongoing projects, and expansion prospects.
Also present in the meeting were the Vice President of FIERN, Sílvio Bezerra; First Secretary Director, Heyder Dantas; Second Secretary Director, Djalma Barbosa da Cunha Júnior; the Chief of Staff of the FIERN Presidency, Helder Maranhão; Communication Manager, Juliska Azevedo; Project Coordinator of SENAI-RN, Amora Vieira, and other state representatives.
