During his visit to the ISI-ER in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, the Dutch consul commented on the economic potential of the region, highlighting the port and energy sector, and showed interest in investments in wind energy and green hydrogen.

Last Wednesday (03/08), the Consul General of the Netherlands in Brazil, Niels Veenis, visited the SENAI Institute for Innovation in Renewable Energies (ISI-ER) in Rio Grande do Norte. And he debated with representatives of the state government the possibility of investments in the regional market. Among the sectors most highlighted by the executive, wind energy and green hydrogen are the big bets for the future of the Potiguar economy.

The Consul General of Holland paid a visit to the ISI-ER of the state of Rio Grande do Norte during this last week and met with the main representatives of the state administration for debates around the state's economic investments.

The sectors that most caught the attention of the executive and Dutch companies, according to Niels, are wind energy and green hydrogen, currently being the big bet for the future of the Brazilian energy market. 

Thus, the Dutch executive also commented on the great possibilities for business and partnerships between both countries and highlighted that there are great chances of developing exchange projects between universities, research institutions and companies in his country with the ISI-ER.

Aiming at exchanging knowledge in the field of wind energy, as well as looking at investments in green hydrogen, due to the strong race for energy transition in the country.

Niels Veenis commented: “I had knowledge and references about the Institute, but when I got to know it in person and in detail, I got the perception that it is something that really has an even greater importance and develops research that will have repercussions for the future of the renewable energy sector” , regarding what he knew about the ISI-ER in Rio Grande do Norte and highlighted that “there are several Dutch companies interested in this, private companies and a research institute, I remember at least one, which is mainly focused on the flow of gases and liquids and , with that, it is possible to present the projects to see if it is possible to develop the collaboration”, regarding the investments that can reach the state.

In addition to commenting on his impressions of the ISI-ER during his visit to Rio Grande do Norte, the Dutch consul also highlighted that the country's main focus in the Potiguar territory is the production of wind energy, due to the state's leadership in domestic market, as well as the possibility of making the state the first major producer of green hydrogen in Brazil. 

He confirmed that there are several companies from the Dutch private initiative that already have their eyes on Rio Grande do Norte and that he hopes that the future bring closer the relationship between the country and the state. The executive learned more details about the ISI-ER and the sectors in question in the state during his visit and attended a presentation on the Institute's infrastructure, equipment, ongoing projects and prospects for expansion.

Also present at the meeting were FIERN's ice-president, Sílvio Bezerra; the first secretary director, Heyder Dantas; the director and second secretary, Djalma Barbosa da Cunha Júnior; the chief of staff of the FIERN presidency, Helder Maranhão; the communication manager, Juliska Azevedo; the SENAI-RN Project Coordinator, Amora Vieira, and other state representatives.
