335 Thousand New Jobs Are Expected to Be Created by 2030 According to the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas. With Salary Increases, the Oil Sector Is Hiring Again
In contrast to the general market, the oil and gas sector has been showing high supply and demand, with a large number of new positions and rising salaries. According to data from human resources consultancy Michael Page, the hiring of professionals in mid to senior management for the oil and gas sector, from January to November this year, increased by 440% compared to the same period last year.
The outlook is that for 2022, the pace will remain and salaries will rise even further – 20% when adjusted for inflation. The main driver of this growth is the acquisition of Petrobras’s businesses by private companies, which need to build teams of employees.

According to Marcelo Magalhães, the company president, the new hires are a reflection of the expectation for higher oil and gas production, which is expected to exceed the current 16,500 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day, reaching 23,000 by 2025:
“The market is heated, and salaries are increasing. There are positions for geophysicists and geologists with an average market salary of R$ 30 thousand. To attract professionals, we are offering higher salaries and expanding benefits such as health insurance and variable compensation.”
