Macaé’s Rise in the Brazilian Job Market with Proliferation of New Job Positions in the City
The city of Macaé celebrates a continuous advancement in the job market, according to recent updates from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (CAGED), published by the federal government. This progress resulted in over 4,600 new jobs just in 2023, establishing Macaé as a regional leader in job creation.
Strategic Partnership with Leal Varella Group
During this week, the mayor of Macaé, Welberth Rezende, visited Muriaé, Minas Gerais, where he had the opportunity to closely observe the businesses of the Leal Varella Group. The main objective of this trip was to strengthen the expanding business ecosystem in the city of Macaé.
Accompanied by Rodrigo Vianna, Secretary of Economic Development, Labor, and Income, Rezende presented to the Minas Gerais entrepreneurs the promising investment opportunities in Macaé, a city experiencing robust economic activity, with prominent productive sectors such as oil, gas, and energy.

The city of Macaé has distinguished itself as a favorable business environment, contributing significantly to the creation of approximately 1,100 new jobs just in April of this year. Macaé: Powerhouse in Economic Development
“The growth in the number of jobs is undoubtedly a clear evidence of the work we have been doing to simplify processes and ensure that investments are consolidated in Macaé. We celebrate this result because we understand that work provides dignity to more Macaé families,” commented Rezende.
During the visit to the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais, the representatives of Macaé were welcomed by Lael Varella, director of Mila Transportes, and by the administrators of Faculdade de Minas (FAMINAS), Luciano Varella and Luísa Varella.
In his presentation to the Minas Gerais entrepreneurs, the mayor highlighted that Macaé has achieved first place in the “Fiscal Indicators” category among large cities, in addition to ranking fourth in the General Ranking among all 5,570 cities in Brazil, according to research conducted by the Yearbook of the Best Brazilian Cities, 2022 edition.
Projects and Future Perspectives for Macaé
According to Rodrigo Vianna, the city is undergoing a new industrialization process, which includes the expansion of the airport and the revitalization of mature fields, in addition to housing Petrobras’ largest administrative headquarters. “We are looking for partners to further strengthen the business environment in Macaé and in the Campos Basin,” Vianna emphasized.
Regarding the Leal Varella Group, the city hall clarified that it encompasses ventures in education, concessions, tires, health, and transportation, as well as the Cristiano Varella Foundation, which manages the Cancer Hospital of Muriaé and FAMINAS, a university center with 17 undergraduate courses, constituting a reference in the state of Minas Gerais and in Brazil.
