Learn How the Digital CRV Replaces the Physical Vehicle Document, Making Registration and Property Transfer Practical and Safe.
The Digital CRV is the electronic version of the vehicle registration. This digital document was created to replace the old physical vehicle document, the Vehicle Registration Certificate (CRV), and aims to simplify the process and reduce bureaucracy.
Launched during the pandemic, the Digital CRV is a tool from the Federal Government to facilitate oversight and streamline procedures, allowing quick and hassle-free access to the vehicle’s digital registration.
Difference Between the CRV and the CRLV
Before 2021, the vehicle registration document, called DUT (Unique Transfer Document), was issued on banknote paper by state Detrans.

With the transition to the digital document, this paper document is no longer issued, and now all vehicle registration data is available in digital format.
The Digital CRV is accessed through the Digital Traffic Wallet app, which stores the digital registration and allows the owner to access all vehicle information.
Many people still confuse the Digital CRV with the CRLV (Certificate of Vehicle Registration and Licensing).
The main difference between the two is that the Digital CRV deals with the ownership registration of the vehicle, while the CRLV is required for the vehicle to circulate and must be renewed annually after paying the mandatory licensing fee.
While the digital document proves ownership of the vehicle, the CRLV ensures that the vehicle is licensed and registered to operate on public roads.
How Does the Digital CRV Work?
The Digital CRV works like the old physical vehicle registration document but with the advantage of being digital and easily accessible.
The vehicle registration information is stored in the Digital Traffic Wallet app.
To access the Digital CRV, the vehicle owner must register the vehicle’s Renavam in the app, enabling the consultation of the digital registration and the use of the document for transactions such as buying and selling the vehicle.
If you need to transfer ownership of the vehicle, the digital document serves as the basis for the new transfer document, now called APTV-e (Authorization for Vehicle Owner Transfer).
How to Download the Vehicle’s Digital CRV?
To download the Digital CRV, it is necessary to follow a few simple steps.
First, it is important to know that the Digital CRV will only be available for vehicles whose last ownership transfers or purchases were made after January 4, 2021.
If you meet this requirement, just download the Digital Traffic Wallet app, log in with your gov.br platform credentials, and access the “Vehicles” section, where you can click on “Vehicle Information.”
Then, you need to enter the Renavam and the security code printed on the CRLV.
After this procedure, the Digital CRV will be available to be shared or downloaded directly to your device.
If you prefer, you can also obtain the digital document by accessing the Senatran portal.
To do this, simply access the portal, log in with your gov.br account, and follow the instructions to verify and download the digital vehicle registration document.
Why Download the App?
The Digital CRV represents a significant advancement in the vehicle registration process in Brazil.
With the migration to digital, the process has become faster and more accessible to everyone.
The replacement of the physical document with the digital registration provides more security, reduces bureaucracy, and facilitates access to vehicle information.
The transition to the Digital CRV not only modernizes and streamlines the process, but also ensures that the vehicle registration is always conveniently and securely available on your mobile device.
