During the 27th edition of the event, the port terminal operation platform of CS Infra will present offers of infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment, as well as social and environmental impact actions.
Feb/March 2023 – CS Portos, controlled by CS Infra from the Simpar Group, will be present during the 27th edition of Intermodal South America 2023, one of the leading events in the cargo transportation, logistics, intralogistics & warehousing, and foreign trade sectors. The company will present offers of infrastructure and equipment comparable to the most modern ports in the world, actions for social and sustainable development of communities, as well as initiatives for job creation and safety in operations.
“Participating in one of the most important trade fairs in the sector, such as Intermodal, reinforces the positioning of CS Portos, a company with port expertise that offers the highest level of services, focusing on quality and increasing the productivity of the terminals in which it operates,” highlights Marcos Tourinho, CEO of CS Portos.
The company invested approximately R$ 60 million in improvement works at the ATU12 and ATU18 terminals at the Port of Aratu in Bahia since it took over the effective operation of the concession in June 2022. The company completed the first phase of the renovation work at the end of February.

The largest South American oil company, Petrobras, is preparing for a historic leap in production with new FPSO platforms and the expansion of refining — projects that could add up to 900,000 barrels per day and strengthen Brazil’s energy security.
With this amount, the company restructured the entire fire network, drainage, paving of the yard, and revitalization of the warehouses in ATU12, which receives and handles the movement of loads of fertilizers, sulfur, copper concentrate, iron ore, and magnesite.
In addition to external finishes and the implementation of CSTV, a monitoring system via cameras for customs clearance, gates were also built at the piers, incorporating vehicle and personnel control processes that did not previously exist.
At ATU18 – which will offer standard handling and storage services for solid bulk agricultural products and other related port services such as inspection, sorting, weighing, among others – the storage and handling capacity is expected to exceed five million tons after the investments in the second phase.
“From the beginning, the entire team has been working to elevate the level of service and security offered at the terminals, as well as to increase the productivity of the areas. The main focus is on serving customers and port users,” emphasizes Marcos Tourinho. “The investments in both terminals contribute to job creation and result in more business opportunities, significantly impacting the local economy,” adds the executive.
Next Steps
The second phase of the works, scheduled to start in April and involve more than R$ 600 million in investments, will focus on specific areas and the modernization of all equipment.
According to the company, some points will be priorities from now on, such as the creation of a new berth at ATU18, the structural renovation of TGS I located at ATU12, the acquisition of ship loaders and unloaders, conveyor belts, the implementation of a new warehouse for fertilizers, all paving work, and the construction of scales, dumpers, and silos, in addition to land routes.
A new headquarters with a cafeteria and warehouse, among other things, is also planned. “Everything we have already done has given a new look to the terminals, including increasing productivity and safety in operations. But the upcoming phase will be even more important, as we will put into practice everything that was established in our concession contract, which will significantly change how the port operates and its scale,” says Marcos Tourinho.
Contract and Investments
CS Portos won the auction at the end of 2020, and in total, the company will invest over R$ 627 million in improvement and modernization works in the first three years of operation, as outlined in the Basic Implementation Plan (PBI), approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
The contracts for ATU12 and ATU18 have durations of 25 and 15 years, respectively. Both can be extended for up to 70 years. The projection is to more than quadruple the storage capacity and productivity at the terminals.
