The Federal Institute of Southern Minas (IFSULDEMINAS), through the Machado Campus, announced the opening of registrations for the extension course “Unraveling Cryptocurrencies: A Guide for Beginners (EAD)”.
The training is 100% online, free, and guarantees nationally recognized certification for those who meet the completion criteria.
There are 1,000 spots available for students from across the country, with no registration fee.

Cryptocurrency Course For Beginners
The project’s goal is to teach from scratch the workings of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, covering everything from the most basic concepts to essential practices for starting to interact in this market.
The aim is for anyone, even without prior experience in economics, technology, or finance, to understand how digital assets work and how to use them responsibly.
What Will Be Taught
The curriculum was designed in modules, which guide the student in a progressive evolution.
First, there is the introduction to distance learning, an initial stage for those who have never used virtual learning platforms.
Next, the course delves into the foundations of cryptocurrencies and the role of blockchain, the technology that supports this ecosystem.
Another module is dedicated to the digital currency ecosystem, highlighting Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other relevant crypto assets.
Subsequently, students learn practically how to create a digital wallet, understand its functionalities, and make their first simulated purchase.
One of the central points is the module on digital security, which shows how to protect against scams, fraud, and financial losses, as well as guiding best practices for the conscious use of cryptocurrencies.
Course Structure
The program falls under the category of Initial And Continued Training (FIC), short courses aimed at professional and personal updating.
All content will be made available on the Moodle AVA of the Machado Campus, the virtual environment officially used by IFSULDEMINAS.
In this space, the student will find handouts, video classes, exercises, and interaction forums.
Completing the mandatory activities is a fundamental requirement for the issuance of the certificate.
Certification And Validity
As defined in the notice, upon completing all stages of the course, participants will be entitled to a digital extension certificate.
The document will be issued by IFSULDEMINAS within 30 days after the end of classes.
The certification can be used for academic workload complementation, curriculum enhancement, and also as a differential in internship and job selection processes.
Who Can Register
The course is open to anyone interested, provided they meet some basic criteria.
It is necessary to be 16 years old by the start date of the classes, in addition to having a CPF, valid email address, and internet access.
These requirements ensure that all participants can follow the classes and receive communications sent by the institution.

How To Register For The Free Course
Registrations are open until September 30, 2025 and must be done exclusively online.
The candidate must complete the form indicated in Notice No. 63/2025, available on the IFSULDEMINAS portal – Machado Campus.
The selection process will follow the order of registration, respecting the limit of 1,000 spots. Those exceeding this limit will form a waiting list, with the possibility of being called in case of cancellations. The final result will be published on the campus portal on October 1, 2025.
